Just got a 7.59.322 in the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, beating my previous time by quite a large margin :dopey: Plenty of practice pays off at last!

If it helps, the real-life time for the Veyron is from a dead stop... In the middle of the big straight.
And the real-life Viper time is hogwash, not that it matters, Shift still clearly has most of these cars way to fast, surprise!
I'll see if there's any cars stock it'll allow me to drive right now, last I tried, the Viper and Z06 were app off-limits, until the game let's them move off the starting line again.

my top ten cars: all flying, except the GT3 RSR, i was 2 tenths quicker on the standing start

Maserati MC12________6'34.970"
Aston Martin DBR9_____6'35.470"
Zonda R_____________ 6'39.920"
Bugatti Veyron________6'45.670"
Zonda F_____________6'52.030"
Koneigsegg CCX_______7'02.420"
Audi R8 LMS__________7'02.850"
McLaren F1___________7'05.680"
Porsche Carrera GT____7'06.710"
Porsche 911 GT3RSR___7'08.050"

The real life record for the Porsche 911 GT2 is 7'11''...

I don't think it is... cars like the Pagani Zonda F Clubsport and Ferrari Enzo are only running in the 7'22-24 range, and the GT2 is going to be significantly slower than those. 7'11 is a super fast lap time... a GT2 might do that on full slicks, but not on the standard fit Pilot Cups.

Real life record for a GT3RS is c.7.40 IIRC.

Man, you're an animal Silk!

I'm starting at the other, panty-waisted, end of the spectrum:

S2000: 8.47.312

135i: 8.33.440

Had a significantly faster lap going with the Honda, but lost it at the end of the last straight on my flying lap. :ouch: Heart-breaker. :(

McLaren F1 6'56.450 (quite tricky to drive... surprising amount of understeer)

animal? , hardly.
for reference: my s2000 time is 9'21. So you got the goods !!! 👍

The S2000 is so tricky to keep balanced that it's almost like it has been lifted from another game. Getting it around the Ring without spinning or crashing takes some delicate throttle control. There's definitely a lot more time to take off my time, but with Ripping Silk's damn "flying lap" scenario, pushing the car on the second lap takes nerves of steel. :scared:

I gave it a better go in the S2000 just now, an 8'53.910", 8'51.130" 8'49.320" 8'48.520" The last one was a standing lap, so still a bit to go.
In many ways a harder drive than the fast cars.

Corvette: 7.36.060

Not an easy drive. Crashed the car a couple of times on laps 2 & 3, leaving my first (standing start) lap the fastest.

Elise: 8.34.595

One of the easiest cars to drive. The combination of perfect balance in the car & Shift's inherent grip makes it easy to floor the Elise through many of the corners. The sound of the car is just beautiful. I was surprised that my first (standing lap) turned out to be a second faster than my second lap.

I give it a try last night... my results (yes, I'm aware how bad am I...)

Porsche GT3 RS - 7'58''243

Porsche GT2 - 7'53''298

Updated to post 44, I'll add yours in tonight Bullie77. Don't forget the tier 1 and 2 cars guys, only a few records here so far. I know those tier 3/4 bad boys are exciting to drive but they all count!

Thanks,

On tier 1 cars, I cruise a lot on the Nissan GT-R 2000 (its something of a fetiche, but I enjoy a lot drivin' it around the 'ring...)

My best so far (if I recal correctly) would be 10'03''...something

Ok, having just reminded people of tier 1 cars, I just got home and raced the Lotus Exige! Seriously though, great car to drive, a bit like the Elise (obviously) I would imagine. Best time is 8:35.230

Edit: Just tried the focus ST, not quite the same driving experience  9:19.780

I love the idea of this thread. Hotlapping the ring in Shift is seriously good times. I've been clocking up a few times, and although they're mostly not very good I may as well get them up.

VW Scirocco - 9.11.00
*Went off a couple times, probably an extra 15~20 seconds to be had on a clean lap.

Lotus Elise 111R - 8.24.24

Porsche Cayman - 8.11.00
*Went off into the grass on a sweeper, probably cost me at least 5 sec.

Ford GT - 7.47.41
*Just an ugly lap, heaps more time to be found here.

Lamborghini Gallardo - 7.34.04

I haven't been taking photos of the times, but I might start doing so as I get quicker what with me being a new member and all.

Thanks Imari, glad you like it. Some good times there, I'd certainly be happy with them! Welcome to GTPlanet

Some more...

McLaren SLR 7'27.770 (ugg!)
Lexus LF-A Concept 7'21.500 (1st time I've driven this and it's brilliant, video to follow)
Mercedes SL65 AMG 7'39.420 (heavy, but well balanced)

Edit: I think the 7'24 official time for the LF-A was set by the race version... 7'24 would be an incredible time for the road car.

LF-A Lap...

okay...... heres a few times:

M3 GTR: 7:03.281

GT3 RSR: 6:59.368

Cayman S: 8:06.561

Lancer Evo IX MR: 8:08.660

Porsche GT2: 7.28.630

Lots of time to take off, but easy to lose it when you push too hard.

The pattern seems to be: set a decent time on the first (standing start) lap, when you're not pushing too hard, then crash the car on the subsequent flying lap as you try to go faster. :ouch:

I'll give this one another try.

Ah you want Tier 1 times? Ok here is what I've done so far. Most I only did one flying lap so some are well off the pace, some might be half decent, but it will fill up the board a little more.

Wow! You've been busy! 👍

I've had most of these times tucked away for a while. I've set a time in every car bar 3 I think. oh and the M3 GTR which is in there somewhere, so that would be 4. oh, and the Z06 which won't leave the start line, thats 5.
I said I had done just one flying lap in them all, but thats wrong, I did 8 laps in the S2000 (and was still shy of your time Biggles!).
Anyhows, these times certainly aren't definitive. Lots to be knocked off in all of them.

Board updated, interesting how the tier 1 real life times seem to be harder to beat than the tier 3/4 times which have been destroyed already.

I'm thinking of renaming this thread 'who can stop ripping_silk dominating the leaderboard'

In all seriousness though, thanks for the interest and keep those times coming (just not the Exige, let me have my name on my own leaderboard at least once please :sly: )

A few more here.

Renault Megane: 9:03.59

BMW M3 E46: 8:35.66

BMW Z4: 8:38.74

Mitsi Evo X: 8:30.88

Nissan GTR R34: 8:14.56

Subaru Impreza: 8:32.78

Lambo Reventon: 7:21.20

Shelby Terlingua Mustang: 8:17.55

It's fun going through and try all the different cars. I doubt many of those times will stand up to a concerted effort, but it's a starting point.

I don't know how accurate the Shift performance parameters are compared to RL, so the difference in lap times may be somewhat meaningless anyway. However, I think a relevant statistic might be Laptimes vs. Destroyed Cars, Death or Injury! It's easy enough to push the cars to the limit & beyond in the game, when wrecking the car only leads to an (annoying) restart. It's quite another thing when it leads to a trip to the hospital or the morgue!

I noticed with the 911 GT2, that I was able to get into a comfortable rhythm of braking, downshifting & stabilizing the car going into each corner, that felt pretty realistic, physics-wise. But it didn't lead to the fastest lap times. To do that, you have to push the car to the point where disaster is just one prod of the accelerator away. You might pull off one "fast lap" before it all falls apart, but that's different from being able to drive consistently & safely at that speed, which is what you would need to do IRL.

In that sense, more realistic lap times would come from having to do one lap (or even better - a cumulative series of laps), with NO restarts. What we need to do, is eventually move on to some online races where any serious mistake IS going to ruin your chances of winning.
