This is from about a minute ago (it's about 5.45pm here) southbound (i.e. heading into the city) on the Harbour Bridge - a Govt bus has gone into the back of a private bus.

It's okay to laugh - no-one's hurt.

I see nothing of interest. Tell them they need to crash closer to the camera next time.

Hey vat_man, drive over to that camera, park your Subaru in the middle, and wave!

No chance - especially now.

Gets better - the 9pm fireworks were cancelled due to the wind.

Half the fun of it is to see the police drive up and tell you to "move along!" It would make for extreme viewing pleasure!

So New Year's is only a few hours off, huh? I like our New Year's, it's one of the last major ones -- we get to see New Year's take place in New York, London, Sydney, Paris, Auckland, plus our own, live. Meanwhile Sydney has to set the tone for worldwide New Year's celebrations. I'm sure the pressure is tough.

Well, the only thing I'd be getting asked right now is 'how much have you had to drink' - and that would then be followed by 6-12 months of whining about not being able to drive. And no-one wants that - especially me.

Well. given the Harbour setting, we're pretty blessed here. I don't know how the wind's going, it's meant to die down. Our new place seems to be in a real lee, so it's hard to judge. We'll see at midnight!
