Now THIS is extremely weird.

I have found TONS of posts on here about the well-known Hemi bug...but did you know it ALSO works in reverse? I haven't tried any OTHER car yet, bit I'm driving a Toyota Sports 800 right now in Arcade mode (Nurburgring too, no less)...and yep, a Dodge Hemi showed up. Hmmm...this makes me wonder...now that it's been confirmed both ways, what the heck is going on in the code?

Weird...

I know the reason why, and I hope I can communicate it clearly. In essence, each car in the game has a predetermined "rating" that determines its A-Spec value; in other words, how many A-Spec points it will get against other cars, and how many points other cars will get against it. This rating is based largely on power, weight, and downforce, but there are ultimately many exceptions, like the Ram, whose value appears to have nothing to do with its performance. Additionally, when you go into a race with a particular car and difficulty setting, that determines what range of A-Spec values the AI cars will have. Thus, since the Ram is near to the Toyota Sports 800 in A-Spec value, it will appear as a competitor in a single race.

This is not my video. :P

Didn't say or think that it was. I still have a beef against these stupid Hemi Rage videos. I'd be more impressed if somebody actually :censored:ing drove it like I do, beating an Evo around Grand Canyon or whatever with clean driving. :dunce:

Well, yeah. There's several cars about on par with the Toyota (and, as far as the game is concerned, with the Ram). Even the slowest cars in the game can be matched with the Ram, as the game thinks it's that bad. It likely has to do with the insane weight of it, which gives it poor handling and acceleration... or so the game thinks...

Its funny at the start, with the beetle and the 360 etc driving up the start and suddenly a huge monstrous truck rears it ugly head above them xD Its like a knife through butter on the track against those cars.

I agree with you Parnelli, and I do race with it a lot, but it really is a good stress reliever to smash some little cars every once in a while. I would never post it on YouTube, though.

Lol yea when the Ram comes in and I have like 200hp car I'm like
"Hey!That no fair man...":crazy::dopey::dunce::scared:

And the Hemi can even match 10 difficulty opponents, making a sort of cheap way to get 200 A-Spec points on all Arcade tracks.

I think I figured that glitch out. i believe the game uses the "power to weight" ratioes to grade similar vehicles. and the Ram is a heavy bugger. if I still had it, I'd figure out some way to post my "skin of my teeth" Rally runs with the Ram (and my rare 200 point a specers)

Nope. The Range Stormer concept is fairly similar in weight (or, rather, can be made to be easily) and power and that goes against cars far more powerful than what the Ram races in A-Spec races/arcade mode. The Ram is just screwed up. I'm guessing PD made a typo or something in the internal calculations the game makes when you use the Ram, which probably explains the table Rotary Junkie linked to.

That being said, the Ram is one of the most entertaining bugs in the game even when used against real cars.
