This has always been bugging me. And will continue to if nobody offers me an answer to this.

"After the release of the Second-Gen NSX-R, Honda developed a more agile, more responsive, and quicker limited edition NSX-R called the NSX-R GT. The NSX-R GT was created by Honda solely to comply with the Super GT production-based race car homologation requirements. As JGTC rules required at least five production cars for any race car version to compete, the NSX-R GT was limited to a production run of only five cars.

The differences between the Second-Gen NSX-R and the NSX-R GT are not fully known. One clear difference is the addition of a non-functional snorkel attached to the roof of the car. In the JGTC NSX race cars however, this snorkel is fully functional, feeding outside air to an individual throttle body intake plenum. The NSX-R GT also has a lowered suspension and widened body. More aggressive aerodynamic components such as an extended front spoiler lip and large rear diffuser are used as well. It also is speculated that the NSX-R GT incorporates more weight savings over the NSX-R. Honda never advertised what, if any, changes were made to the 3.2L DOHC V6 for the NSX-R GT."

So anyways, my question is the following: is this...

...supposed to represent the NSX-R GT? Judging by the name and the year, it isn't. But if it is...

...then it doesn't look like it at all. And if it isn't, what the hell is it supposed to be? Some car Polyphony Digital made up from nowhere or what? I would greatly appreciate any kind of information you could provide to me on this matter. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought about this before.

This. It's another LM car created by PD, no idea why they decided to make a road model too this time but that's how it is. Such a car doesn't exist.

I see. Such a shame, because it actually looks better than the GT. I would change the colour of some of its parts, though.

Thanks for the quick reply, Greycap. 👍

Well, it sort of does now. Though I'm not sure if they actually built it like they said they might.

That Mugen concept is absolutely stunning but it's still more reminiscent of the "normal" NSX than the LM in my opinion. And perfectly good as such, I think the LM looks bloated. One of those Mugens for me should I ever win the lottery. Screw GT-R's and Ferraris in that case.

I did indeed, but almost a year ago in the car section. Posted by Toronado no less. Why I didn't bring it up here is that as I said, it still looks like a NSX instead of a balloon. :P

I had this same dillema a few years back, but with the Camaro Race Car of GT3. I figured it must be modeled from something found in real-life, but could never find the answer exactly. :indiff: Sadly, it's yet another LM, even tho there's thousands of actual Camaro racing cars PD could have modeled from. Must be way cheaper to use these LM designs instead of dealing with licensing and money trying to get a real-life race car in our games. My theory, anyways.

I meant that people wouldn't expect you to say "Screw GT-R's". :P

A good theory, to be honest. I have always wondered how did PD manage to get their hands on certain concepts, like the Viper GTS-R.

Well no, it doesn't. That's the old 1995 GT1 car that raced at Le Mans and was featured in the original Gran Turismo. The new LM has its colouring based on that one, probably as a tribute much like the RX-8 LM is painted like the 787B.

It's a shame Honda got rid of the NSX's replacement.

It could've really made Nissan crap themselves. :nervous: How are we supposed to respect Honda now, they've become so bland! But thankfully they're not as bland as Kia. :sly:

That car looks awful, in my opinion. I prefer the original NSX.

I don't think it's the final product, just a concept maybe. But i saw some spy footage of it being tested at the 'Ring. It's a shame really that Honda scrapped it.

However, Nissan in the game now, with Lexus joining in, there's also rumours about a new Toyota Supra comin soon, i doubt Honda will lay quiet. After this recession, i suspect they will kick start this project again.

I don't like it (that Concept Honda up above). It's not a bad design, not ugly, but I think it's too much like a Nissan or something. The original NSX had its own style apart from anything else in the world.

Agree. Somehow, it reminds me of the Nissan 370Z.

Yes, I can see the resemblance. Something tells me there may have been a second reason behind the new NSX's cancellation. Getting sued by Nissan probably isn't very pretty.

Sued? it doesn't and won't happen. Car manufacturers copy each other designs..nothing new.

I agree however that the original NSX, together with the Supra was one of the prettiest cars came out of Japan...

Well, I am the sort of guy who would adopt a pug (I'm not talking about a certain French manufacturer's products) over a much cuter dog. I'm the sort of guy who doesn't mind the looks of the Gumpert Apollo, or the '10 NSX I showed everyone a few posts ago. I think they both look cool actually. A black Gumpert Apollo would be a great Batmobile.

Actually, in GT:M PD went into great detail about the creation of the Camaro as well as the similar one from GT1, yet I can't for the life of me remember what they said.

The background of the NSX LM, straight from GT PSP.

The pinnacle of Japanese mid-engine sports cars is the NSX Type-R. This high-speed version, the NSX-R Prototype LM, is built on the NSX Type-R base, with a lighter body and wider tyres. Inside, leather seats and wood panelling bring luxury and simplisticity together for this road version.

The Prototype LM was envisioned as fantasy homologation model for the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race. However, the machine was not just designed to compete in Le Mans. More than that, it seeks to become the perfect NSX.

- some real life facts, we don't need them here -

In order to become the top mid-engine in the world, the car needed a longitudinal engine layout and at least 276 BHP of power, more than its self-imposed limits would allow. Although this remains only a dream for the real production NSX, in the Gran Turismo world the possibilities are limitless. Thus, we bring you the Prototype LM.

The 3.2L DOHC V6 i-VTEC engine has been bored out to 3.5L to yield 493 BHP at 10.000 rpm. The engine layout has been switched to longitudinal, and the gearbox has been installed in front, mirroring the JGTC-spec NSX. The driveshaft is connected to the tyres through the oil pan underneath the engine.

Considering an depressing amount of the car info is sadly flawed and/or flat-out incorrect, I find the stuff about the PD Specials to be the most interesting stuff in the game.
