Downloaded the 24 hours of Nurburgring videos from GTTV today, which has me wondering. If the most famous race on this track features the GP circuit, surely GT5 will have to use this layout for the majority of races, rather than the version given in GT4.

Also has car numbers been shown or confirmed anywhere, was there more than 16 shown in the NASCAR segment of the GT5 concept video? Even if it got out 20 it woudl help fill the track out a bit. Imagine GT6 on the PS4 featuring all 224 cars that the real life Nurbburgring 24 hour race features! (Will never happen but imagine how amazing it would be!)

Also watching this video (which is top quality may I add, is filmed in HD and looks great on a Bravia X), I hope that Polyphony digital show the track with spectators, to give it more of a race track feel rather than a track in a forest. Also the HD video shows you the level GT5 would have to lift to hit the real life detail of the track, honestly the GTTV video looks amazing!

The final thing the GTTV video shows is just how massive a part of racing Porsche are, they provided about 8 of the top 10 placing cars. Is there any chance Porsche could feature in GT5 as one of the race teams shown in the video if the don't get the factory standard Porsche liscence?

I hope we get another GT out before the demise of the PS3.

GT1 and 2 was on the PS, 3 and 4 were on the PS2, 5 and hopefully 6 are on PS3. I know that it's unlikely though because the PS3 has been out for sometime.:indiff:

If we have to wait for GT5 to be released on the PS4, MS has released Forza 5 or 6 by then.

Lets hope we get GT5 on PS3... The PS3 launch was a big fail in the PS history... no single console seller like GT,GOW,Tekken,MGS and a lot more top games were there on the PS3 launch.

Especially Tekken was the reason why I bought a PS1 and a PS2... and now after nearly 3 years PS3 we still got no next gen Tekken (it´s coming in fall 09 I know) and no other exclusive console seller game out there (only MGS4) (Uncharted and Killzone 2 were not good as the good old PS2 games)

Hope they do it better on the PS4 launch...

Well..I think it's pretty evident we will get GT5 on PS3...but I do not think that there will be a GT6. I think that instead of GT6 there will be a great deal of DLC. Perhaps.

I think it'd be cool if we had variations... not only the Nordschleife, like was in GT4, but also the 24 Hour course, which incorporates the F1 course, the full F1 course on its own, and possibly the Sudschleife?

And... maybe even the 1930's era FULL loop?

I think a Nurburgring set in, say, the twenties or the sixties would be cool... kind of like Fuji in GT4 👍

I'm not adverse to that. :)

Wow... not many people would agree with you, but then it sounds like you like very few genres anyway. And GT6 won't require nearly as much work as 5. A whopping number of cars and tracks will be modeled already, and it would be a simple matter to add detail to the existing tracks. Model some more cars, a few more tracks, acquire a few more licenses, rework the game engine to take advantage of even more of the Cell... that shouldn't take but three years. Of course, with downloadables to increase the fun and freshness of GT5, GT6 could possibly be put off as a launch title for the PS4...

But anyway, back to the topic, the Nordschleife itself may be as much work as 4 - 6 normal racetracks. But with something that legendary, I think EJRocky has it right. Spend the time to model just about everything, to create the... dare I say it, DEFINITIVE Nurburgring course in all it's variations.

I agree in that GT6 will not be developed for PS3. Polyphony have gotten to the point where the game is so detailed and contains so much content that I think it only becomes feasible to release 1 GT every generation. They'll just take advantage of DLC and patches to provide new cars, tracks, and features.

Really, the only reason they have to create a GT6 for PS3 is if they thought they could improve the graphics of the game, which would probably be a marginal improvement anyway. And I'm sure a year or two from now Sony will at least have some preliminary specs on their next console to share with developers(maybe not w/the public).

I would be happy with 4 versions of the nurburgring:

GP circuit
Sprint circuit (hairpin cuts out Ford-kurve to Schumacher S)
Nordschleife
24h circuit (Nordschleife + gp circuit without merc. arena and with a different NGK chicane)

The problem is that wheras before we had the le mans cars racing aroound the Nordschleife, I expect they would use the GP circuit, which is less fun from a gamer's perspective.

I hope they use the GP and sprint circuits for the junior races and the Nordschleife for at least some high level races even though it would never be in real life.

Save the 24h circuit for only the 24h race, and free runs.

I don't really want them to try and recreate the old Sudschleife - I'd rather they stuck to reality. In any case I doubt PD would try it as they are so obsessed with absolute perfection (and good for them).

But Porsche - it's just gotta be in the game!

Maybe you guys read my post wrong (or maybe I wrote it wrong).

I know that 5 is going to be on the PS3, but I'll be miffed if 6 isn't.

I'd like to think GT5 will include the Nürburgring 24 Hour layout, because I have no idea how 16 cars will fit in the tiny pits we used in GT4. Only time will tell.

Well, not quite. A tighter GT6 engine which took even more advantage of the Cell would also mean slightly better physics and more cars on track. Better damage modeling. Variable weather perhaps, or better weather effects. I know the first thing we think of is definitive graphics, but there's much more under the hood than that.

But I'm guessing most of that could be fixed/upgraded through paches/upgrades.

My main point is when the game has gotten to the massive point that it's at right now, it seems less likely that the dev team would be willing to put out another installment for the same gen console. It was different from PS2 where HDD's were not made standard and there was no central, organized online network. Polyphony finally have the means to patch or upgrade their game properly.

And then when they get specs on a next-gen machine, they can start overhauling their game engine to take advantage of it. Keep in mind, Kaz has said he's wanted to do something different other than GT. That pretty much affirms to me that we won't see a GT6 on PS3.

How about we wait until PD first release GT5? Then we can start fantasizing about GT6.
