GT4 Arcade Drift Race
I had decided I would practice some drifting on Arcade. I chose the Nurb, just to have fun. Little did I know that the car I would choose increased my drift skill by 60-70%. Choosing the car was a task itself. After a while I chose the Amuse S2000 R1. Well, I went to the settings screen and chose a difficulty of -5 to begin. The lineup was: Nissan mm-r Cup, Spoon Civic, Nissan Skyline Rally, and another Nissan mm-r Cup, in that order. I had put N2s (confort) on my car.
The race had started. On the first turn, I managed a decent drift, catching up a little bit to the Nissan mm-r Cup. The second, third, fourth, and fifth turns I just couldnt manage to pass the the Nissan. But then, out of nowhere, the Skyline Rally stomps the brake, causing the Nissan mm-r Cup and me to crash. Fortunately, I had veered just enough to crash into the Skyline in an angle that le me do a 360 degree turn, so I could keep going. By now, the Civic had gotten a nice 5 second lead on me. That lead made me surpass my limits because my goal was to be third before the 2 minute mark. I was going so fast through the turns, that instead of gaining on the Civic; I spun out many times and ended up in last place by 16 seconds. OMG.
Now, I started to concentrate more and pace myself. By the Bergwerk section, the Skyline had a lead of 5 seconds. I know thats not progressing too much, but it was the first time I drifted the Amuse and the first time I drifted the Nurb. After some more spin outs after the hairpins, the Skyline, fortunately, gained only 2 seconds, a 7 second lead. By the long straight, the Amuse was the king. I was pushing 230 kph, when the Nissan mm-r, the fastest of the bunch, was at a limit of 192 kph.
Now, the second lap was much better. By the start of the second lap, I was in second place. The Nissan mm-r Cup was in first, by 25 astonishing seconds. I drifted my Amuse to the limit, not passing it. I managed to gain 18 seconds by the hairpins. The battle was on. Since the track is narrow, it was difficult for me to pass. By the Pfiargaten section, I was right behind him.
We battled and battled until the long straight. During that time, we passed each other so much, I got confused. I managed to pass him in the straight, thanks to the ability to slipstream. Then, I lost concentration, and by the end of the straight, I hit the wall at 227 kph, thus making me spin like a top. The Nissan mm-r Cup was gaining quickly. I got back to the track as fast as the car could go and, incredibly, I beat the Nissan mm-r Cup by 0.002 seconds. I was so relieved I had won.
Now, I had decided to try +5 difficulty. But that story will come later.
Any comments?
