Nurburgring Race Series, Week 16
Race Cars 1000HP

For Voting Results See Post #2

Once again I’m posting voting early because I’m closing voting early. I’m doing this to allow a little extra time to procure the car in case you don’t already have it in your garage. There are a couple of prize cars from difficult / lengthy events. And the other machines are a bit expensive.

This will be my last “official” post as administrator. I’d like to thank everybody for their support and continued participation during my tenure here.

I’ll go ahead and comment now on something I know will come up. The Minolta and Formula cars are NOT on the list. Dave and I decided they were over-used as the fastest cars in the game. If there’s enough outcry maybe Dave will do something but I’ll let that be his decision. From my perspective he’s correct. Despite having these other cars in my garage, most of them for a long while, I haven’t driven them until now (for testing & photo purposes). I depended solely on the Minolta and Formula cars for the events where you needed that caliber of car.

There are only 5 choices this week. 3 slots on the voting ballot. Your top 3 choices, in order of preference, just like always. I wanted to put the Vertigo on the list as the 6th choice but IMO it’s junk. Too much HP for even R5 tires. You have to baby it around the track. I doubt it would’ve gotten any votes anyway

Most of the choices get just an oil change. If selected the Pescarolo will get a Stage 4 Turbo upgrade so that it fits within the HP category. Again this week we’ll be racing on R5 tires.

On to the choices:

Mercede-Benz Sauber C9
987HP
Availability: Extreme Hall, Formula GT

Jaguar XJR9
974HP

Nissan R92CP
1001 HP
Availability: Endurance Hall, Fuji 1000

Nissan R89C
968 HP
Availability: Mission Set 5

Pescarolo C60 ’03
995 HP w/ Stage 4 Turbo

No discussion of car selections. Voting deadline is Tuesday, February 14, 2006, 9pm GMT (=4pm US EST). Vote via PM to me.

Voting Results:
5. 02pts - R89C
4. 05pts - Sauber
3. 08pts - R92CP
2. 10pts - Pescarolo
1. 11pts - Jaguar XJR9

Mods:
Oil Change >> 974HP
R5 Tires

OMG I'm almost certain this is the first time the car I chose 1st has actually been selected! And I didn't "cheat". I vote 1st before I've even generated the thread. My 2nd choice was the Pescarolo, 3rd - R92CP. Although after just now relooking at the voting I think maybe a couple of people voted for this car thinking it would be the least popular vote and therefore would not be a voting threat to the car they really wanted...the Pescarolo?

In testing, for some reason the tires felt like they had less grip on this car than the others.

At least this car can be purchased. It's also available as a prize car (for 50% completion?).

I'll edit in an additional thumbnail photo when I get home.

Race deadline is Tuesday, February 27, 2006 9pm GMT. Standard OLR rules apply.

Im quite pleased with the outcome of the vote, I like the JAG since it was the first LM car i obtained in the game and voted it as my 3rd choice, was a close call with the Pescarolo tho....

Should be a good week with almost 1000BHP on tap....

regards

David

I couldn't resist taking a spin in the Jag.

T10 = 4'42.098, 56.0 miles

This car doesn't feel as "touchy" as the Mac and 7 but I'm still using TCS 2 / ASMs 4. Experimented with reducing downforce to try and get more top speed but couldn't hold it together long enough to put the car on a straight so I gave up. Stock settings are good but I did soften them a bit and the car feels even better. Wide open through Flugplatz! Haven done that for a while.

Had my first 3 laps with the Jag and only a T10 of 4'51 although much more to come im sure, good news is that was without aids which i preffered!

Once again though with Ronnys initial T10 being substantially faster I might have to try with the ASM on again!!

cheers

David

How could this be? :yuck:

I would rather see the Jag than the Nissans but still, I would rather see the Pescarolo than the Jag.
Heck, I would rather see the Pescarolo than any of the cars on that list.

The Pescarolo was the perfect substitute for the Audi R8 and it is a shame to see that the "big boy car" is an old Jaguar and not a brand new open-wheeler. :ouch:

Oh well.

Dont forget it only got there by being voted for:tup:

I actually like the Jag and think its a massively underrated machine, real life Lemans winner in '88 also....

I will be interested to see just how fast this one is in the right hands!

*EDIT* I forgot to ask if anyone knows how to try and tune out the snap oversteer im getting in the XJR9 under braking?

cheers

yeah, if you're already down to 2... i'd up the front a click.
and probably raise the ride height a few clicks.
bad things happening under braking could easly be a ride height problem.

Oh No! Gamestop called and said I could pick up my copy of TOCA 3 tomorrow afternoon! I better wait until the NRS finishes before I take TOCA out of the wrapper.

I want to put in one more session with this kitty. And then I need to find the handle on the Yellowbird...so far as I can tell there is no handle...it's like trying to catch a greased pig with your hands tied behind your back...maybe the pig will get tired? Not likely.

New T10 of 4'46.xxx for me, starting to come together now just using +1 click of TCS to help deploy the power:tup:

Dont think i will catch you though Ronny!

You probably could/would with a little ASM.

My next session I might raise the ride ht a little more. Sparks-a-flyin' everywhere in the replay. I'm not sure how that might be effecting the handling.

Im running full ride height (95/95) and still look like im grinding metal the whole lap!

Hi to all,

Going to post the results here as there was just 2 participants for week 16, myself and Goixoye, and due to me not having much driving time i got well and truly thrashed! Well done Ronny!

week16results2yu.jpg

The leaderboard as a result does not change that much but close now between 2nd and 3rd indeed!!....
