Hey what's up everybody, I just had a simple question for obutto r3volution owners: is this rig okay for short drivers? I like the way this setup also integrates the ability to have a tray for a mouse/keyboard for regular computer use as I'm considering just replacing my current cockpit and small computer desk. This is so I can save some space. I'm 5'1" but according to the website, minimum driving height is 5'3" lol, and I'm just wondering if there are any other shorter drivers out there with this rig that can comment on it. 👍

Myeeek, I have a R3v, and love it, however, if there was one complaint I would have, it's the adjustability of the steering column height.

The way they have it, the steering column is angled at an upward angle, so pulling the wheel toward you and tightening it effectively moves the wheel platform upward. This all sounds fine, except I'm of pretty average height (5' 10'') and I have it at it's lowest setting (pushed all the way into the steering column) and it's just at the right height. I might even prefer it a touch lower.

Thanks for the reply fumanchu. All pics I've seen of people's setups definitely show of average height and I can basically eyeball it that the wheel might be too high for me lol.

I'm also considering the Ozone now as I'm under the impression that the wheel can be adjusted lower compared to the revolution. Can anybody with the Ozone comment as well?

My car in real life is a Honda S2000, and I got use to it's sitting position and think it's perfect. The center of the steering wheel is about centered to my chest when I'm sitting down. If I can replicate that steering wheel height with the ozone, then it'd be perfect.

I have the Ozone. I also use it as a computer desk and mount my wheel once or twice a week. It is pretty adjustable given that me and my girlfriend can use it without a problem with just small adjustments of the seat and the KB+M tray. That said I can’t comment how it is for shorter drivers, because I’m 189 and my girl is about 155 (that’s 5,1 in your system I think), but she doesn’t use the wheel. When driving I move the seat at about mid-way and when using it like a desk I move it all the way back. She moves the seat about mid-way when using the PC. So I think you will fit nicely. One important thing though – if you lower the wheel mount too low the KB+M tray will collide with the tubing and you won’t be able to move it out of the way without dismounting it, or moving the wheel stand higher. Not sure if you I explain it well.

I'm 5' 7" and I find the R3V's steering column a bit too high for my liking. I got an engineering workshop to lower it for me. Basically, chopped it and re-welded it lower. You can see it in this video at 1m 41s

itrdc5 that's a great idea! I do have a couple of friends that can weld, if I ultimately decide on the r3v I might just copy your idea! Although it'd have to be more than 70mm lower lol.

A month late, I know.
But that's brilliant. I was wondering about doing something similar myself, but ended up just using a pillow on my seat and pulling it a bit closer. :)
