Hi Gents,

I am in process of building my simroom in my new home. After more than a year the home renovation is done and the final part is finishing my basement sim room.

I have all the pictures, models, etc for decorating. And I've finally gotten my Oculus Rift rig built. This rig is one of two I'm building. The other is the full size GT2/GT3 Porsche cockpit with 12 foot curved screen on the other side of the room.

This rig can be used with Oculus, but also with Triple 50" projection when I'm not in the mood to have a VR headset on.

Its a White Human Racing GT Chassis which I have modded with parts from my VisonRacer VR3.

As you can see I have added the VR3 seat assembly mount and shifter mounts which I think are the best around. Also the VR3 center brace. This super thin piece of plastic completely stop the vertical movement of the GT chassis wheel deck. The GT chassis is already completely stable horizontally so no issues there.

I have ARC Carbon pedals with a custom heel plate made from my G27 pedal case. I formed and shaped it with a dremel to fit the ARCs perfectly.

I'm using TH8 RS shifters because I love this shifter. I've modded them both for looks and functionality. They all have custom made shift shafts and bushings made by Patrick at RightOnGates, and his work is just amazing. Worth every penny.

The seat is a custom GS4 seat that has been anodized by Todd B over at iRacing, he did an amazing job!

The GT Chassis has been modified by me in the following ways. I have a custom DBox aluminum plate of my own design that brings the actuators closer to the center of gravity. This greatly increases the motion sensations of the DBox. I tested this theory over 3 years ago after watching some of the rig manufacturers placing their actuators way out in front of the rig which diminishes the DBox movement.

Also, most DBox plates made for this chassis place the front control box under the pedal plate. I wanted as clean a look as possible with no exposed wires or control boxes so I placed the control box and all wires inside the chassis. I removed the bottom GT chassis plastic plate, dremeled out some of the rigs and mounted all the rigs wires and control boxes inside it.

All these wires go from a loom into the wall to the next room where the PC, USB hub, Power, all that stuff is.

My projectors will be ceiling mounted and hopefully I'll route all the projector wires through the ceiling but that depends on the cost as I just finished this basement and the ceiling is new.

Sound will come from a Yamaha surround amp and strategically placed omnipolar speakers which are not in these shots. They will be as subtle as possible, again trying to keep things tidy and neat.

Here are some pics of the progress. Again, this isn't finished. There are tons of decorating things going into this room to make it my ultimate sim room. Lots of models, custom displays, trim pieces, etc.

Finally I'd like to add that the vertical stabilizer in no way hampers my ability to reach any pedals and never even comes close to touching my legs, you'd have to be racing with your knees together for this to happen. The way its designed with its curvature its a complete non issue. Only mentioning this because I know some people will probably harp on that.

If you have any questions let me know. :)

it looks like the start of something amazing again maya ... congrats!
i have a similar setup, 2x d-box + gs-4 + Rift .. i can tell you it's simply the most immersive set up I've owned ..

For sure man, I've been using VR headset for 20+ years of varying quality. I totally got hooked though at E3 1995 when I had extended time in the first VFX. Since then it has been my quest.

But also, a lot of people don't realize how tiring headsets can be especially if your climate is hostile. So for the times when I don't feel like wearing my CV1, my triple projectors are still there and are still incredibly immersive.

Thanks for the kind words.

For those curious as how I got a 2x SRP unit working with loose actuators I had DBox custom program them for me years ago. Usually they don't play together.

Glad to see you back in business mate

Amazing rig:bowdown:

Looking forward to your progress of the simroom and offcourse the porsche project.

Thanks bud. The GT2 is coming along if not a little heavy. Already at 125 pounds and I havent added the roof or any equipment. Damn 8020 is HEAVY. LOL

That includes the 4x dbox though which weigh a ton.

Running a gt2 wheel for now until I can get an accuforce sometime in the next 5 years when they're available. Sigh.

Looking great! I am in the process of my basement remodel and cannot wait to build in a custom Sim area. May I ask what you use for your screens?

Thanks gents, the screens were specially made for me by a company called Northern Flight Sims, but they don't make them anymore I think, but you could try contacting them. Website is the same name, but warning they are pricey.

Basically this rig will double as my rift rig for F1 and GT and when I tire of having the rift of I still have my sweet 50" projection surround. Best of both. Can't just go Rift, its just too tiresome.

The GT chassis is going well but running into a couple of hurdles. Firstly is I keep running out of 80/20 secondly it already tips the scales at 250lb and I haven't added the roof yet. Going to be pushing that DBox 850lb weight limit if I run two seats with two people in it. I really want to play rally games with my brother as the navigator. :D
