This problem is a serious issue, because it restricts me from selecting certain cars.
What happens is I'll go to select a car, in this case the Toyota 7 Race Car. I go to select the car, but at the menu where it shows the car and you can switch into it, the car doesn't load. The music also stops playing.
At this point, I can still somewhat navigate the menus, but when a loading screen gets triggered, the game locks up, and I can no longer do anything except shut off the console. It takes an unusually long amount of time to shut off, and beeps 3 times in a row. This happens regardless of how long the PS3 has been on. My PS3 is model CECH-3001A, and I have the XL edition of GT5, which should be fully updated. The console still has 103GB of free space. I've searched for someone else having this problem numerous times, but I can't seem to find anything on it.
It's not persistent to any one car either. A while back, I couldn't select any Nissan without this happening, and then it was a few Toyotas after that. Now, out of the cars I've checked so far, it's only the Toyota 7 that triggers the problem.
I've put up with this for long enough, and I have no clue what could be the cause. I've never had any problems with any of my other PS3 games.
If anyone else had has a problem like this, please help. It would be greatly appreciated.
UPDATE: I was browsing the used car dealer, and this also happened when I viewed the Nissan 350Z Gran Turismo 4 Ltd. (Z33). This problem almost seems random, but specific to Japanese cars.
UPDATE 2: Okay, after the problem just occurred with the Nissan, I pressed the Demo button and as usual, the game is frozen at the loading screen. However, the used car dealer music just started playing again. This is the first time the music restarted after the crash occurred. I will continue testing.
