Bored of GT7? Three New Custom Races Every Day

If you’re wanting new single player content, but just want to jump in and do a few custom races at a time, or even one, maybe this is for you!

There are three new custom races that refresh every day at 12 AM UK time. Each day, the new races will be updated in this post, and the previous day’s events will be catalogued in a spoiler tag.

The first race is short.

The second is a medium length race.

The third is long, approaching, or sometimes being an endurance event.

On some days, there will be a fourth event on dirt or snow tracks. Due to the low number of rally tracks in GT7, I thought doing it every day might have it get old fast. But if you really want a rally event every day, let me know, I’m more than happy to do one.

There may occasionally be a fourth (or fifth) event if that event requires a Legend Car. The reason for this is so that, if you don’t have the required car/a car from the year range/required engine type, you can still compete in the three “core” races without needing to grind a ton, or wait for a specific car.

The performance bracket for each race may vary each day. The only set up required is punching in the custom race settings and choosing or tuning a car to meet the PP limit.

The game will fill out the grid with either the “Random” Rivals Selection option, the “One-Make” option, or the “Car Category (Group 1/2/3/4/B)” option, using the Balance of Performance (BoP) option for the latter to ensure competitiveness.

In non-Balance of Performance races, to make races as competitive as possible, once you have entered an event, adjust your car’s fully customisable ECU or power restrictor’s percentage to 96%.

It’s best to do this while in the event pre-race screen so the game doesn’t generate a grid around your reduced PP value, which it will if you enter into the custom race with a reduced ECU/power limiter percentage.

I recommend entering into the pre-race screen with your ECU/power limiter percentage already reduced to 96% to save time with having to move the percentage back to 100, then re-generating the grid in the custom race settings by toggling the “Rivals Selection” option to something else, then back to the setting listed in the event details, then pressing “Start Race” in the custom race settings screen.

Be sure to not adjust any custom race settings after entering the race unless your car’s ECU/power restrictor is at 100%, so that the re-generated grid isn’t based around your car’s lower PP resulting from a lower ECU/power restrictor percentage.

A final note regarding event set-up - any custom race settings not posted in the event details are set to their default options.

With that out of the way, here are the events for the 5th of October, 2024!

Laser (Short)

  • Goodwood Motor Circuit (10 laps)

Split-second decision making is a must. A tenth too late, and you could end up in the grass and out of the running. Experience the rush of every kilogram of downforce sweeping you through a high speed course.

Marbles (Short)

  • Fuji Speedway - Full Course (5 laps)

Twenty-five years ago, the concept of a turn taken at speed would’ve prompted a large majority of American cars across the nation to shrivel up. U.S. automakers have successfully shaken that notion, with truly excellent circuit machines in the last decade and a half. It’s time for a spot of payback - experience modern American engineering and put those “sophisticated” plebs to shame.

I don' t get it. Are you creating online servers or just advising some settings to do offline racing?
Offline custom races that you can set up if you’re bored of the single player experience, but prefer to play offline. Custom races, in my opinion, provide better racing than the main game, it’s amazing what a grid start alone does for the game.

These are something you can set up quick and get a race in, and at the length that works for you.

I tried the Fuji race, and it was pretty entertaining (won with a stock Ford GT on hard), but man, it's so hard to truly enjoy the custom races in this game when you can just see the rubber-banding adjusting the speed of the AI by multiple seconds a lap, lap after lap, in a ham-fisted and usually unsuccessful attempt to try to entertain you. It's a shame because I think even the non-Sophy AI in this game has a lot of interesting behaviors and could race quite well, but it's completely held back by that bizarre behavior.

Glad you found some fun with it! Yeah, it’s not great with the rubber banding, but given what options we have, I still prefer it since the actual racing is better from an overall view of the race compared to the main game. I wish you could truly turn the rubber banding off but PD gonna PD. I really wish we could use the Clubman Cup + AI, or The Human Comedy AI as a new difficulty level, or as the new Professional AI (maybe a new option is best for those who are equal on pace with the current Professional AI).

The Clubman Cup + / Human Comedy AI is pretty fast and by far the best non-Sophy AI GT has ever had. Unless it needs custom path finding for each event, I don’t know why we can’t choose it, or why it isn’t a difficulty for all regular races (though chase the rabbit would be extremely unfair with actually good AI, so maybe that’s why, but then just do closer grids. PD do their own thing to the detriment of their own game).
