finished most of the stuff. Sure I still have some circuit experience to do (big woop) and could go back and get gold on some of the stuff I did not at first but I bought the game thinking it would have a career mode and it did not, and sport aint really my thing although I eventually will end up there with nothing else to do. Personally I just want a career mode where I can join a team and race a season and see where I end up. the championships at the bottom of the world circuits was probably the closest to career mode I thought but I would like to see it be 20 or so races not just 2, and be able to do them again in a different season. I know everyone plays differently but I dont even play a ton and I'm pretty much done with it for the most part. I am enjoying the time trials now though. I'm not good enough to join the online championships so thats out of the question, I dont practice enough. I do love the game though. I have a g29 wheel and was going to upgrade to a dd unit but I basically have nothing left to do in the game. Hope they add some more championships and single player stuff. I do need to gold the prototype challenge at suzuka. I have silver but its getting old trying for now. Just felt like posting. Was going to play but was like I got nothing to do that I'm not tired of for now. And the hell with the drift challenges. Maybe I need to master that but its such a pain and I have no interest in drifting.

I wonder now, if the issue is that it was simple to 'start again' with the rags to riches game we've loved in the past? The café idea is good for a linear thing to follow, but the older games gave us our freedom to progress how we want (to an extent). There aren't enough events as you say to challenge us to come back with other cars, there's no decent layout design for the races like the old games.

The online is more of a challenge in itself, if you come last, that's fine! it's more about the racing and if you're competent, you can surprise yourself!

For what you describes as a team and season, I kind of did that as a fictional role play thing for the tuned car championship back on GT4. Start with an nsx with low tuning, do the championship, use the money to tune and go back in and see if i win, if i do win, start again with a new car.

Can't really do that here. Not in Gran Turismo: Café...

Great news for you buddy, any day now you’ll have 3 new cars to add to your collection so that it is complete again. You’ll also likely get a few new (different) events, menu books or even a set of missions to complete. And if you check back at least once a month moving forward you’ll have a little bit of that new content to keep you going every month until GT8!

they need to release spec 2.0 or something asap game keeps getting boring and boring the updates they bring out each month is too little i have no idea how they though this Caffe thing or searching for events on each track is a good thing not to mention the usless championships that contain 2 races only trial mountain and trial mountain reverse wow good idea PD

That’s how I felt about Forza Horizon 4, but of course the development studio had to refill its bank account once again. Money win.
Let's not forget how licensing works. When they buy the ability to put a car in their game, it's for a limited time. Forza chooses to go with 4 years generally, which is why each of their games are delisted after 4 years.

When Forza Horizon 5 released, 4 was already 3 years old. It's very likely to be delisted in a couple months.

It also isn't really a good idea to just update one game forever if you want to keep adding new content, new maps, new progression systems, or making significant changes to the engine. Eventually the old stuff breaks. It becomes too difficult and/or costly to maintain. New features will be hard to integrate into old content. Etc.

Yes, I think most are at least a little underwhelmed by the content. To the best of my knowledge GT has never had a Championship season like you;ve described. At best, its been a handful of races (if that?) in a one off Championship (that could be replayed of course), no seasons or team progression as such. Not a bad idea tbh, but not sure how likely it is PD will deliver this new structure, given a lacklustre amount of typical events that most (rightly) expected to be greedily feasting on when GT7 was released.

I'd say 2025-2026 unfortunately, wouldn't even be surprised if it's a PS6 launch title (which would be ideal). If they're going to follow the live service model with GT7 then they are going to have to heft up the updates otherwise players are just going to jump to Forza or other racing games.

You would actually buy GT8? 😂
Personally after 7's weird launch I'll wait on reviews and pass on pre-ordering that one. GT7 just hasn't felt like it was worth $90 in my opinion.

Reality check.

Most people never come close to completing videogames (any game). Personally I have the final Cafe GT World Championship, all the Missions, and most Track Experiences to do. Then again I can spend days at a time improving my times in Time Trials and so on. Much of the rest of the time I enjoy building and tuning cars.

GT7 is still at that stage in its lifecycle where most players haven’t even picked up the game yet. A combination of PS5 supply issues and waiting for periods like Christmas/Black Friday for big purchases.

So expect another 2-3 years of DLC support and (likely) PSVR2 implementation. I do think a GT7 2.0 will arrive at some stage.

I don't understand why people keep asking for GT8. GT7 should stay for years and receive lot of updates. They are not going to rush another game.
Under normal circumstances, I would take this as a huge positive thing, but when I see the state of the game since release, I'm leaning closer to the opinion that it will be a really, really long suffering... Waiting for something that was promised at the beginning and in the end it may not even come is quite painful.

A racing game isnt something that one "finishes". Why not try to improve your times? As the OP admitted he is not the fastest. Sounds to me like he should be golding all of the licenses, missions, and CE's before even considering that there is nothing left to do. When I have golded everything I then move on to see if I can get to the top of the rankings on my freinds list if I am not already there, its not easy at all, I have some extremely fast freinds on my list.

... I'm not good enough to join the online championships so thats out of the question, I dont practice enough. I do love the game though. I have a g29 ...
This statement alone says it all. No offense, but if you are "done", then there's no career mode in the world that would satisfy you. You are just playing to complete the game.

Circuit experience is a the first step. The statement "big woop" says so much. It is a "big woop". It's the mechanism for you to get better. It's for you to improve yourself and then test yourself against others.

A traditional career mode would have taken as much time and involvement as the menu books. If you are just playing to completion, then you are done, and we'll see you again in 4-5 years when GT8 comes out.
