I am now sick and :censored:ing tired of the olimpic beauracracy! Canada just got a metal STOLEN from them in doubles figureskating! This was the most rediculus thing I have seen in my life! The Russian team made several mistakes and almost fell, where the Canadians never made a MISTAKE, not a unballence or anything and they got ranked first by Can, USA, Germ, JPN, but the others swayed it towards the Russians. This is ridiculus! The crowd (of Americans) actually BOOED when the judges released their marks! THEY BOOED! Even they knew that they should have won!

<sarcasm>I love the olimpic dream!</sarcasm>

I wouldn't blame this on the Olympics. This is something that has been going on in the 'sport' of figure skating for quite some time, not just at the Olympics.

It also happed to our mogul skiier. She did an Iron Cross off of one of the three jumps, and was faster than the american (second) but got a worse score. That kicked her to 4th.

🤬 them all... WE know they won... those :censored:in' russians can kiss my ass... those :censored:in' judges are corrupted... i guess Russia paid a bit more money to keep their gold streak... :censored:ers.

even the announcers we're on their side... like i said, :censored:ers.

I personally have a problem with any 'sport' where a panel of judges give you a score. Too subjective and favouritism is rampant.

guess which judges gave 2nd place? Russia, China, France, Ukraine and another judge i forgot... all the others gave first... i still can't believe the hypocrisy of some people...

I agree. That was robbery plain and simple.

The Chinese woman fell on her butt on the quad throw and they made several other errors but still got 5.7's in technical merit and won the bronze. And the second-best Russian team was voted better than the US pair.

It should've been Canada, Russia, USA.

but take it on the bright side (if there is one...) we got another medal... though it's not the good color... I still can't believe it... check out what will happen tomorrow and in the next weeks... what's next i wonder.... the Women hockey team will get their stuff stolen?

on a side note, really sad for Wotherspoon in speedskating... hopefully the 1000m will fare better for him...

Gold - The best!
Silver - sucks ****!
Bronze - good, at least ya won someting...

Especially true in hockey and other 2 team sports.

How many judges have been bought? the men half-pipe? all american podium... ok, they were great, but still... that Finn with the mohawk should have won... just for his style!

i think they should have judges from countries not participating in the disciplin... that way, there wouldn't be any discrimination... i still feel we were robbed.

I like how you said "even they."

Curious, are we dem blind paytwiots?

no, no!! the guys were great at the half pipe... too great in fact... Brett Carpentier couldn't even qualify for the finals... 2002 is to forget for Canada so far...

What outfits were the countries wearing? This year they have new and very specific rules as to what people are allowed to wear and do do (As far as tricks go) No form fitting clothing, no outifts that make the skaters appear 'nude.' and appropriately lengthened skirts. In addition, no tricks that put the male and female of the pair in the "69" position. And a few other sub-clauses. Any one of these could have meant the difference in otherwise technically perfect routines. :(

All was clean... The canadians have beaten the russians, both using the same program, several times before when BOTH were flawless. The Olimpic comittee is launching a formal inquiry apparently, but it will porbably be one just to cover their asses.

The Canadians definitely won it.

I just saw a show on TV (Extra I think) where they were showing 2 European judges from a competition last year (world class)...they were signaling each other with their feet, in code, telling each other their votes...caught on video

They also had some audio, of judges on the phone comparing scores BEFORE a competition

Just unbelievable. They were definitely robbed :(

On the bright side they were very professional about it.

PS I felt for that Canadian speed skater (worthington?) that fell the first lap. Man that sucks.

I was watching MSNBC's Olympic covergae and they were talking with the female skating analyst (her name eludes me at the moment) and she said that maybe it was possible that the French judge voted for the Russians so that the Russian judge would vote for the French ice dancing team.

Tonight for the men's they have some different countries. No Russian judge. There are judges from US, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, Japan, Romania, Australian, and Azerbaijan.

Jeremy Witherspoon is the speed skater....

He IS the best in the world... Now he is out to break the world record which is easily in his reach...

There is still the 500M to go though...

My sister is friends with him when he was training here in Calgary.

Well, Skategate is over.

I think it's a good resolution. I think it would've been a bit unfair to take the gold medal away from the Russians. They've been screwed over enough.
