What is the dang point of letting you enter a race when they gonna pull the server 2 mins before start? I spent 2 hours on every car ending up with Scirocco..heading for a 1:52 time Dragon Trail reverse which is pretty heroic by my standards and
BANG network error server maintenance. Checking now I see it was there but NOT mentioned/warned about in game!
Like i said I was on the final straight! Ghost way back in mirror. At least let me save my time and finish the lap. NOPE.. Game over man. GAME OVER!

I had a friend stay last weekend. A long time GT fan. He saw my wheel set up and was raring to go. Here's the rub. I loaded up Project Cars 1 NOT GTS as I wanted him to be guaranteed a great time.
Put him on the ring with some real fun cars and weather, and he was rocking by the end. The next morning he saw me on a GTS race and said is this Gran Turismo? I guess it looks so bad so the cars race better?
His next and final night we went back to pcars and had a ton of fun. GUARANTEED fun.

There have been about 10 rotating messages at bottom of the screen before it died. Last one was from October 23rd. All out of date except the one that counted that should have been in BOLD RED LETTERS! Doesnt show IN GAME when you are playing only if you sit around doing nothing staring at the menu screen.
First game I have played in 20 years that threw me out while playing with no chance of saving. The new 1.05 update boots up and shows the warning clearly at bottom and a counter top right of how long server has been been offline.
Woop de woo.

Well I wasn't sitting watching the screen and knew. I was able to finish what I was doing and save with a couple minutes to spare. Sucks to be you I guess. I'm done here now.

Might be a good idea to check out the notifications section regularly. I do every 12 hours if online.

Well, thing is i DO. Would NOT be difficult in 2018 for them to display in LOCAL time when disruptions are. Main issue here though is that every time time before I'd finish a daily and all dailies would suddenly have start times over an hour ahead, so you cant enter them. This time they were all there, 3 of them starting in next half hour. When I'm playing a game and having fun it doesn't normally occur to me to get up out of my seat, find a PC and Google it's down times. ONLY this game.
Also, before I'd be on a Mission and it would just say I couldn't save after. It was such a shock here to be actually hammering full speed down a straight and bang forced back to GREYED OUT SCREEN OF DEATH (nothing available).
I understand my time wouldn't have been valid but dang at least let me cross the finish line and tell me what it was!

Yeah but it's 2017 so..

Seriously though, chill. It's an online game: servers get taken down and it sucks. There's no perfect time to do it.

Actually being a flight sim enthusiast i am WELL aware of time zones. Use the above resource all the time so I know what time I am flying at anywhere in the world. When Im on my beast PC rig with 2 x 4k monitors and multiple utlilities running at same time for full situational awareness.
Then I take a break and use the PS4 for fun...in a different room on a different floor. With just a tv.
There is NO good time to take a server offline if you need people be online all the time to play. Once we stop complaining about this it will just become acceptable and the new norm heaven forbid.
Retired IT manager here, used to install/run 250+ PC/Server/Linux box network (yes I set up the servers myself and auto-installed the PC's with clone drives. RETIRED being the important word. I got paid for that. I PAID for this!
I took the servers down after midnight when all was quiet. Yes there is no 'midnight shift' in a 24 hour online world, so dont make the game ***** online only then! A point to be hammered until they change it.

Same here man, almost almost 20 years. I wrote and maintained the maintenance activity system for a nuclear power plant. It's hard not to look at some of these things that people think are so hard to implement and not shake your head.
