Greetings everyone,

I am a Psychology PhD student at Nottingham Trent University (Nottingham, United Kingdom) and I wonder if you could give me a hand with my research by taking part in my survey. It is brief and is and about Internet use and habits and has around 10 very short questions, it will not take you more than 4-5 minutes to help me out and at the end of the survey you can enter a draw for a £20 voucher for online shopping.

Please feel free to help me, it is a personal and independent project I am doing.

Here is the survey's address: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/TQH39YV

I appreciate your help,

I appreciate your help,
Firstly I am at the same uni. Although I am 1st year undergrad in Politics and International Relations.

And done.

Done, You posting results when finished ?

Thanks :-)
Well if you want I can share with you the results, however you would have to provide me an email for contacting you in the future after the study is finished. If you wish to do it send it by private message, thanks:-)

Well had my grandmother try to take the survey but apparently the survey does not think someone being 86 is a right age an continues to ask "are you sure you entered your right age"

In that case she'd have been entirely justified in entering any number it accepted, and then just gave random responses to the rest of the questions.

Apparently, the survey won't accept an age greater than 70. Did anybody try to discover what the minimum age it accepts is?

No need:
Survey instructions
Please note that this survey is solely intended for people with minimum age of 16 years old, if you are younger than 16 years your data will be removed from the database.

So it does. Furthermore, if you give an age less than 16 it gives the same "are you sure you entered your right age" that it does if you give an age over 70.

Hmm, wonder what happens if I say I'm 16, but say I've been using the internet for 15 years. Or 17.

Hi,

well the minimum age is set to 16 :-)

Hi,

Well, as it turns out, if you say you're 16 and say you've been using the internet for 17 years it accepts it without a hiccup. Strangely, it won't accept an answer of 43.218 for number of hours per week online.

I don't get all the fuss with the age limit. This is a requirement from the ethical board that approved the study :-) so it is beyond our control.

Thanks for your feedback anyway,
Best

Oh, I have no problem with an age limit, or a lower age limit anyway. I just think it's odd that it allows a 16-year-old to say they've been using the internet for 17 years. At the same time it disallows a perfectly reasonable answer of 43.218 for number of hours online per week.

Further, I wonder why it rejects answers from people truthfully (or falsely, for that matter) claiming to be over 70.

This has to do with sample characteristics, we need a specific age group to fill it out.

Even so, I think I see a problem with a 16-year-old having used the Internet for 17 years...

Maybe I'll just go answer the survey a couple more times.
