When racing online I do my very best to be a clean racer. Never cut someone off, never do anything dirty. However, I seem to always get hit with several penalties. Ramming really annoys me, usually it happens when someone attempts to pass me on the corner. I keep my line, but get bumped by them. Suddenly I see a nice 5 second ramming penalty as the person who actually did the ramming flies away from me.

Also, I wish the game was a littler smarter when dishing out the penalties. Often I will lose control of my car (either from pushing too hard in a corner, not braking properly, or getting rear ended when braking) and run into the outside corner. Well I get another penalty. My car is clearly out of control, so it's not like I'm trying to ride the wall and stand on the gas.

I'm never trying to cheat, never trying to be dirty but I frequently get hit with penalties. It's most frustrating when you're racing with someone who is dirty and you see them constantly avoid the penalty.

Anyone else run into this? Anyone have any suggestions on how I can avoid them?

I'm not sure how long this thread will stay open, but I'll offer some quick advice in case it gets closed:

1. Use your mirror and side views - always be aware of other drivers around you and assume everyone is an idiot.

2. Since everyone is now an idiot, predict they'll do idiotic things, for example trying to outbrake you into a corner from 100 yards back. Since you know they're going to do this, keep an eye in your mirror as you brake and be prepared to take avasive action if you see a car coming flying towards you.

3. If someone is right on your tail into a braking zone, quickly pull to the inside to defend your line and start braking (ensuring not to lose control). This will allow you to protect your line as well as your rear from being punted.

Hopefully these tips will reduce the number of punts you get/are accused of, reducing the chance of an additional penalty.

Always remember that during a race you may not be able to take your ideal racing line, it's rare you'll run as fast whilst battling as when in free run (unless the draft effect plays a big part). Defensive driving is just as important as attacking driving in a race.

:)

Hint : use search bar uptop , type in "penalties" , "online penalties", questions usually can be answered by doing this

Just a little tidbit to help you along before posting a new thread in the future.I see your a new member , so I can forgive you , I don't know about the MODS however. But anyhow , welcome aboard and enjoy this great forum , lots of cool stuff in here.

Welcome to GTP and yes i share your frustrations, you will in time learn to avoid these through experience, obviously you are trying hard but slow down a little in the bends, i find that relaxing a little is faster, i used to be on the edge of my seat with my eyes popping out trying to come first but in reality i was overdriving and racking up penalties, now i sit back relax and enjoy the race and my lap times are quicker with fewer penalties.

The advice by bicycleshorts is good so follow it as much as you can 👍

Why would this thread get locked? Is there something wrong with the original question?
Because we already have loads of threads on online penalties already. Like this one, for example. Your questions should have been asked in there.
