I bought GTA IV and EFLC couple of day ago via Steam, and today it finished downloading. And whenever I try to login to the SC launcher, I get an authentication error. Fine, I'll play offline :ouch:. But then I get into the game, and that requires GFWL :guilty:. I try to login there, authentication error there as well, plus it won't accept my code. Fine, I'll play without that :banghead:. I get into the game and then find out I cannot save because I have not logged in. 🤬🤬

I'm using Windows 8 and I'm seeing other people have these problems on Steam. I'll try to uninstall and reinstall GFWL tomorrow. Anyone else got this problem (solved)?

According to this, try removing xlive.dll from your game directory if you've got it there. Apparently it's blocking GFWL.

I don't think I gave xlive.dll. I looked through the entire thing just incase. I will just try to reinstall GFWL entirely right now.

You'd think Rockstar would have thought of removing the GFWL requirement when they began selling IV and EFLC on Steam.

Well, as an update, I managed to bypass the SC login and the game now starts again, and for TBOGT it accepted my code and logged into GFWL just now. So atleast I have 1 version working.
