Luxury at a Modest Price

Opel dealers taking orders now

Opel is continuing the modest-price strategy, which contributed to the success of the Astra, with the new Astra TwinTop convertible. Prices start at 23,650 euro in Germany, around 3000 euro under the price of similar competitors. Customers who place their order before May 20 will additionally receive 17-inch light-alloy wheels free-of-charge. The four-seat Astra TwinTop with retractable steel hard-top is available with four gasoline engines (77 kW/105 hp to 147 kW/200 hp) and the 1.9 CDTI common-rail turbo-diesel (110 kW/150 hp).

The luxurious standard equipment of Opel's new convertible includes the "Easy Load" system, for loading and unloading the trunk with the top down, an active roll-over protection system, front/thorax-pelvis airbags for the driver and front passenger, ESPPlus, cruise control, air conditioning, and a CD/radio audio system with six loudspeakers. Options such as navigation systems, "Open & Start" (keyless central-locking), adaptive forward lighting and continuous damping control are also available.

The first impression of the Astra TwinTop is reminiscent of that of a well trained athlete - not a gram of fat anywhere. Gradually the particularly elegant profile appears, confirming the Astra TwinTop as the coupé among cabrios; clean and uncomplicated lines from the arrow-shaped front and the wedge-shape rising to the rear, to the curved roof and the taut rear end.

Wow... from the dump old Astra convertible to this... I'm impressed.

The kite waving poster kids have to go, though.

Who flies a kite that low anyways?!

Not bad, i'd drive one, I wouldn't drive the G6 if you paid me.
I'm so shallow I make puddles look like oceans, which means styling goes a long way with me, good drive train or not.

Isn't the G6 one size up on the Astra?

Yeah, the Astra uses the same platform as the Chevrolet Cobalt/Saturn Ion, while the G6 is on the Chevrolet Malibu architecture. Maybe we'll get the Astra as a Saturn, since it looks like most future Saturns will be rebadged Opel/Vauxhall models. (This begs the question: If Saturn can't succeed with American designs, then shouldn't it have been killed instead of Oldsmobile? Nah, that would have made too much sense. 🤬 :banghead: )

Damnit, I cant get the Vectra and Astra sorted out... I'm usually better at this, my bad I suppose...

Would be nice to see a small "affordable" convert return to the Chevrolet lineup with the Delta-based Cobalt. Will it happen? Almost 110% not...
