So it started about a month ago, i don't know if its because I've been over using my 360 or what, but as of lately its getting really bad. Each time i start up my Xbox it seriously takes me 5-10 times to actually get the game started, half the time i have to hit it for it to actually read my disk which sucks because i dont want to have to do this all the time for obvious reasons, but it seems to be the easiest way to get it going. Crappy thing is, i dont have the right size tool to open up my 360 to try to do things myself.

Well what I'm trying to get at is there any way to fix this problem without having to mess with the internals? If not, how much do you think it would cost to get it fixed?

Do you know how long it took for it to be fixed? Reason im asking because it would probably just be easier to by an 360 with no hard drive, and just switch mine over.

I had this. If left alone it turns into a full failure, and then you need to send it into Microsoft to "repair" the laser reader.

I would seriously just get rid of it and buy a new 360. Seriously. I finally gave up on my old white brick. Had it repaired by microsoft 3 times because of the 3rrod (free repair) and recently the disk tray error was happening to me. Then last wednesday I got 2 red rings which means it is overheating. So I traded that in to gamestop for $100.00 (trade in promotion) and put that money toward a new slim 4gb 360 and then purchased the 320gb hd. Got all of that for $299.99.

Its just a waste of money to keep repairing those older 360s. The new slim 360s are much quiter, run cooler, look a lot better, and seem to be more reliable.

Get a new one. I waited on Amazon till I found a new one for $170 and picked up a hard drive for $30. If you can find the same deals, sell the one you have now and you may not be out much money.

This is a pain in the ass haha, there goes all my cars. Bry if i can get Forza started again, can i send you the cars i want to keep? Maybe you can just make a group for them so they are seperated from the rest of your cars.

I was looking for 360's with no harddrives but cant really find anything local. Amazon is going to be my next look.

can't you back up your saves to the cloud? I saw an option for cloud storage

I tried it out this morning but cloud gave me some kind of error. I'm going to give it another try tonight.

Turned on my Xbox about an hour and a half ago, and bearly got it started right now haha. I wasn't constantly trying to get it started, but while i was sitting on the computer browsing the web i would open and close the disk drive over and over for a while. No luck with that though.. I tried alternating it from laying flat, to staying on its side and for a second it seemed like it was going to catch so i crossed my fingers, but again.. no luck. So just 10 minutes ago i lay it back down, open it, close it, and give it a few taps when i hear the sensor trying to move, sucks because that was the only thing that got it working.

From the sounds its making when i put in a disk it kind of sounds like the belt/motor for the laser is stuck. It makes two short buzzing sounds, I guess you can say, and then i hear the disk rotate for a split second and then just stops.

On a happier note, i found out i can play my old Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 on my 360 :)

Yeah, send me whatever you want saved. I got rid of most of the cars in my garage so I have plenty of room. PM me with a list or I can just hand write stuff as I get them.
