I saw a commercial on TV for a Commemorative coin of Operation Geronimo (The one that killed Bin Laden) & 9/11.

https://www.justicecoin.com/

When the commercial first started I thought hey, this is pretty cool. But as the commercial went on and I started thinking about it more, I realised how messed up this product is for a couple of reasons:

1: You're selling something that commemorates the death of another human being, no matter how evil they were. That to me is wrong.

2. You're trying to make money off of 9/11, a horrible event in history that involved the death of thousands of people. That, to me is also wrong.

But there are also a couple positives I found about coin.

1. It commemorates an important part of history.

2. It is patriotic.

I am usually not one to start controversy, and especially not one to get offended by seemingly useless issues such as this, but when people try to find ways of making money off of death? I just don't think thats right. What do you think?

If you want to flame me for bringing this up, go right ahead. I don't care.

Lol just my opinion, but the coin itself looks horrible. And this is like that other coin commercial with james earl Fraser nickel, with " 0.9999" thats four nines, pure gold !!!:D

Its just like any other ad you see on tv. And unless Billy Mayze is advertising Its prolly not worth your time

I just wanted to say that those "coins" are not issued by the US Mint, but by a private company trying to make a buck and not caring a whole lot about scruples while doing it. It does say so in the fine print, probably only because the law requires it.

In fact they're not coins at all; they're medals (or medallions if you prefer).

I could find no information on the sizes of these medals, much less exactly what the composition is; I suspect that "gold" and "silver" actually means "gold-colored" and "silver-colored".

But yeah. It's a scam.

And how about that $50 buffalo coin clad in about $.25 worth of gold? I dont know how they could have busted Liberty Dollar with this crap out there. I guess when you make your own coins it's ok as long as you're ripping someone off.

It's things like this that doesn't help with U.S.A. chest thumping, Star and stripe waving, U.S.A shouting, placard waving stereotypes. Are all Americans like this, or is it unjust?

Mostly just Texans, but you see it everywhere. Let's be honest, pride is good, until it becomes hillbilly nationalism.

They can't do anything since they don't pass it off as legal tender.

The world is full of suckers that will buy anything deemed as "collectible", these coins are pretty much the new commemorative plate.

I find it pretty distasteful, but whatever. At least they're ripping off the people who buy these.

These people bought truckloads of Cracker Jacks to get these and resell them separately.
