I just took part in a race wherein I was in first most of the race with a penalty of four seconds for going off wide onto the dirt. This penalty carried until the end of the race, where I slowed down to get rid of it (in second at the time, with two drivers close behind). I slowed down until the penalty was at 0.01s, which is genuine and not an exaggeration, and crossed the line, in second. However, I ended up in fourth because the penalty rounded up from 0.01s to 1 second, causing me to lose two positions. Is this realistic or genuinely absurd?
What do I mean by "Roundup"?
What I mean by roundup is when a penalty rounds up to the next second, even if that means adding 0.99s like in this case, at the end of the race when the player crosses the finish line.
