They should have jungle courses with land rovers:)

Not if damage gets implemented. That would mean you'd have to stop every few miles to fix them again :) (especially the older ones are really unreliable)

No, the new ones are unreliable. The older ones are stupidly bullet-proof in terms of reliability (me and my dad have a series 3 lwb) and the Defender is also a very well made piece of kit.

Please don't bundle all Land Rovers in with the 1st generation Freelander (my sister has one and its electrics are a nightmare) and Range Rover (dad owned one that I then had - electrics = total garbage, the rest was rock solid). Its also worth pointing out that my dads Discovery now has 200,000+ miles on the clock and aside from wear and tear items has never had a single problem.

Regards

Scaff

Edited to add - yes we do have/had a lot of Land Rovers/Range Rovers as a family and Greenpeace do hate us.

Man, what fun would GT be with just cars? Not much.

i'll agree that GT5 has priorities and certain cars should come before anything else.

But, like i mentioned earlier, There are a couple of Suvs that will work on the track. So just to deny their existence is unnecessary. A driving machine is a driving machine no matter what size it is.

If they have added a renault espace(ok, it was the f1 version)
they can also ad some SUV, but give us the best ones, Cayenne
ML, X5/X6 and some good ones from the US, just for the fun of passing
some guys with those heavy vehicules. grtz

Beside myself, anybody else would like to see more these in GT5? Anyhow when speak about a SUV/4x4 I'm talking about stuff like the Wrangler(Unlimited, YJ and TJ in particular), etc.

Yes GT4 is did some SUV's, but overall the greater number and types have been a bit underrepresented.

I'd like to see performance based SUV's and trucks for sure, not so sure on off-roaders though. Unless there is some sort of racing event for them off-road trucks and SUV's would be sort of a waste.

Standard road-SUV's have no place in GT5 (the fact that you ask makes me wonder if you're not posting a thread for the sake of posting an original topic thread). However, street-only hi-po SUV's would be awesome. Examples:

Audi Q7 V12 TDI
Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8
Land Rover Range Rover Sport Supercharged
BMW X5/X6/X5M/X6M
Mercedes GLK and AMG SUV's (as well as the various tuned versions)
etc. (If only we had Porsche)

As well as street trucks.
Chevrolet SSR
Chevrolet Silverado SS
Dodge Ram Superbee/Daytona
Dodge Ram SRT10
Ford F-150 Lightning

I think purpose-built off road racers would also have a place alongside the Rally cars.

Vehicles from Dakar, Baja, Transsyberia Rally/Races would be well included imo.

I agree 100% with Snaeper.
I can't see a Escalade in GT5...so that rapers can shove it big golden rims and absurd heavy sound system....what does Gran Turismo has to do with that?

This reminds of xuning...
xuning: making your car heavy with unnecessary and ridiculous items around the car
Tuning: making your car lighter with special made lightweight parts by improving aerodynamics and engine.

4X4 cars yes, since we have races for those, Baja, Dakar, etc...
The station wagons are good, like mention above, it's the European (and much more common sense) SUV.

I also agree with Snaeper. I only want to see the stuff you can define as a sporting variant, and by this I do not mean Hummers, unless you can light them on fire.

Also would like to see this

Really? How does one determine what cars are worthy of GT5? I don't say that in a combative tone, but I would be interested to see what you mean by that. GT4 was full of a lot of standard road cars that seemed to have no real place in a racing game.

They key is to have events where driving these vehicles would be fun and challenging. Imagine a race around the Nurbugring consisting of only Escalades, Expeditions, Durangos, and a Grand Cherokees. Or some other event on a dirt course?

On the same note, an event for minivans would be interesting. ;) I actually dislike minivans in real life, but the challenge of coming up with the best setup and racing against other similar models is where the fun is.

Then we could have hippies throwing things from the grandstands :sly:

Yup. Gran Turismo was conceived as an "Encyclopedia" of automobiles... thus it contains many non-sports cars and even non-sports models. The important thing, really, is to give players a venue to use all of these models, instead of forcing them to find creative ways to play around with them...

If you start nitpicking and saying that certain vehicles shouldn't be in the game due to their non-sporting intent, the only cars you'll have left in the game are a bunch of stripped-out racers, the odd supercar, the Elise/Exige and the Caterham. Nothing else miatas.

I, for one, would love to see a minivan series. As long as they give us an Espace F1 again... :D

SUVs would be interesting so long as they don't come at the expense of anything else. I don't feel like I am missing out by not having them, but they would be a nice addition, particularly if they are integrated properly.

I must admit that I would derive a certain amount of pleasure from tuning and tweaking a lumbering giant into a svelte handling machine...

Yes definitely. The likes of the Cayenne, supercharged RRS Sport, VW Touraeg and more would be great. And why not put a Wrangler or Defender in as well? Don't people get a buzz out of Copens? It's not just about speed, it's about finessing a vehicle around the track, not missing an apex and recovering a lost 15km/h with a tiny blip of the throttle. Well, that's my view of course, others may want only supercars but I'd like one of everything thanks, especially 4WDs.

Merged with existing thread

I really hate SUV's, but if they were in the game they would be pretty useless, as cars that cost a lot less would beat them easily. They are a waste of space imo.

Depends on what SUV and what car, there are a ton of cars that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars whereas there are SUV's that cost $20,000.

And there are SUV's out there that will beat sports cars, the GMC Typhoon was quicker then a Ferrari back in early 90's.

Well I doubt that SUV beat a ferrari around a track, probably just a straight line. No matter what SUV it is, there is always a car that is cheaper and faster.

Honestly, I don't see why you " dislike " people who type like that. You can say just leave the " txtspk ", but why do you have to add " msgin " your " m8s " ? So what if they type like that on their own time? It seems like you are trying to be bigger than the original poster or something. Unacceptable.

i dont know . mods get riled up over that sort of thing.

surprised they think people would care or take offense to it

TXT Speech gets on my nerves too. I think people are getting very lazy these days and using too much TXT speech.

I just want to kick some SUV's arse on dirt with a Subaru or a Mitsubishi. SUVs are about as useful as an inflatable dartboard with proper darts, not magnetic or velcro ones.

The Typhoon and Syclone could both hold their own around a track, as can many other trucks and SUV's. And most SUV's are quite a bit quicker then the little K-cars we get in GT.

Totally agree with this, i like my stripped-out racers, etc. but there is a time and place for all things automotive in the context of GT.
It's not all about which car sets the fastest lap-time but the different experience each type of car offers.
I'm no purist when it comes to excluding type of cars or racing leagues and although most would frown upon or cry outrage in the very unlikely event they were to include something like Peterbilt or John Deere i would applaud their bravery and sense of humour, and probably have a great time driving these contraptions ( i'm sure the John Deere would lap the Nurburgring in less than a month...).
But realisticly restricting to normal road cars i can't see why SUV/pick-up's and such should be excluded, i probably wouldn't buy one IRL ( probably wouldn't buy a lot of cars in GT IRL ), but would like to own several in GT5.
And although i would love to drive the AMG G's and M-powered X5's the one SUV i would more than anything want to drive both on and off the track is without a doubt the craziest of them all: Lamborghini's LM002.
