Great pics Evan I really enjoyed our battle that race, those pics show just how close me and you were and I think we had maybe 1 or max 2 little taps from me for the 6 or so laps we ran together

On another note was talking to a few boys online last night and was going to see if people were Intereted in running a mid series break where one week we just run rusty's tag races, just as a relaxing Monday during the series to break it up a bit which might settle any people down as it was obvious a few of us started getting a little heated with the Lexus and other drivers by the end of the series, and it would be great to finally muck around in a less series race with all drivers from the series instead of the 5 or 6 that stay after Monday nights race, just throwing it out there is anyone thought it was a good idea

Good pictures!!

A bunch of us did a practice session last night, experimenting with the different compounds of the Sports tyres.

There was clear time differences, this was all done at Fuji as that track was fresh in our minds ( also it has a bunch of votes in the 'pick-a-track' lists, so likely to be in the next series ) using the SLS AMG.

Findings:

Sport-Hards were 3.0 - 3.5 secs slower than Sports-Mediums

and

Sports-Mediums were 2.0 - 2.5 secs slower that Sports-Softs

I think that was what we worked out. Basically the thing that was clear was that tier-1 racers would suffer too badly if req to race with Sports-Hards.

To explain, my 1st flying lap on Sports-Softs was 1:48.8. Xerxes then went out on Sports-Hards tried a bunch of laps and could not break under 1:50. And by the end of the session the best lap on Sports-Soft was down to 1:45.9 way out of reach of anyone using Sports-Hards.

Just to let you all know. Don't bother doing anything with Sports Hards (which i stated a few posts back) as they are not being used in the series. From the IS-F series it became very clear that Hards not only are alot slower in lap times but also have really bad tyre wear compared to the mediums and softs. So therefore don't waste time with them. We are not using them.

Very clear writeup mate. 👍

"Tried a bunch of laps" is a good way of putting it mate, I think I burned 4 or 5 sets of the Hards trying to get sub-50... No go!

As opposed to then going out on Mediums and running a 46.4xx and still feeling like another .1, maybe .2 is possible on them after about the same number of laps/sets of rubber.

Yeah I figured we would not be running them as you had mentioned that earlier but I thought it may be worth testing simply because it was the Racing Hards that were so far off pace and wear of the other Racing tyres. I thought that perhaps this may not be the case with the Sports class tyres but as Mick pointed out above... It was!

So all-in-all nothing lost as I got plenty of time to test on Mediums still and can emphatically state that the Sports Hard tyres are just as bad as the Racing Hard tyres when compared to their tyre class Medium and Soft companions... 👎

The only way we could run them (Sports Hard), which I am not suggesting we do, was if we used Hard and Medium compounds only and did not use the Sports Soft tyres (except for Qually).

Cheers, Bomber :)

Yeah Roota , I'd be in that , tag races mid week. Wednesdays have become the regular MTB ride night for me so if I'm home for the race , all good . If not , no matter.

Post race on Mondays is always a good wind down but if we finish late like last week , I'm usually falling asleep at the wheel !

^^^ ???

For real?

BTW, you don't really need to explain too much here if it's personal though.

!@#$% bloody courts today have made me undergo rehab. hope ill make the series.

cheers darth vador

Keep us posted if you can make it mate. Hopefully it doesn't get in the way. We are still on break so hopefully you can get an idea of how much time its going to take.

GUYS it's going to feel weird not to race tonight, so my proposal is we have 5-10 lap races in the cars from the new series at numerous tracks. So looking for a room host with microphones!!

After the racing we did in the golf gti I am looking forward to those races! The racing was so close!

Looking at Bomber or White knight to host if possible as we know these rooms are stable but open to other hosters if your able to support the server and mic load.

Anyone else interested??

Cheers,

Wagon wheel

Hey Wagon Wheels...:D
Sounds good to me mate, although I'm not sure how much racing we should be doing in these cars before the series starts...don't won't to bore ourselves to early. Although I will say the Golf is alot of fun...at the right track.:D
I'm happy to Host if Oni and Bomber are not available.
Peace,
Rusty

I would definately be keen for this tonight and am happy to host up until midnight when I will be leaving to do the SLS AMG vs. David Coulthard Seasonal Challenge. :D

I am happy to host mate but if you are planning on sticking around past midnight perhaps it would be best if we all just started in your room as I will be leaving then, as per my above comment. Completely your call mate.

Cheers, Bomber :)

You guys are getting way to much practice in these new series cars. A reason why i didnt want to reveal them to early was due to this. If you guys could use other cars in your mock monday race that would be better. Im sure there are a few drivers that haven't got any time or not much time in these cars yet and would be feeling it on race day judging by the amount of time you all have been putting into them.

I thought about revealing the tracks for the new series but as i can see you are all using these cars quite often i will keep them secret until a week before series start (after the qualifier) to keep it fresh.

I was going to propose a race tonight, but it looks like you've got it under control taital.

Same time tonight then? And as Oni said, we should use different cars. Last time I did practise with the cars, I got bored of them pretty quickly. So just use lots of cars from the rec list.

Xerx, have you got any idea how the David Coulthard challenge is working? Will it only be up for a few hours, or will it be up for several days? I won't be able to participate at midnight, so I was hoping it would still be up tomorrow morning, but I really have no idea.

I was thinking something along those lines where you don't tell us what car for what track, until we get there.

Or even better, to keep it truly random you just drawn a car name from a hat just before we head out for qauli.

That would give a 'turn up and run in whatever you're given' feel to it.

Edit: Oh and a question: are we going to have teams and team colours?? In the Recc Car list there are few colour choices. But one team could run black or metallic grey all season.

Yeah Mic we will be running team colours. The cars i have selected all have black, white, red, blue, grey so there shouldn't be any problems.

I have no problem either way, I just want to race and thought more would agree to it if it was relevant to the new series lol. After spending the weekend at eastern creek I need to race!

Not a clue mate...

I'm not even sure how it will work tonight... :scared:

It starts at midnight, that much I know and from then on I have no idea, from what the information has about it, I would expect it will last a full fortnight as do the TT/Drift Seasonals but I honestly am not sure which is why I am going to do it tonight just to be on the safe side in the event that it does not continue on past tonight... :nervous:

As for tonight's races I agree with Oni that a change would be as good as a holiday and the fact that I will be racing the SLS at midnight means I would also prefer not be running it beforehand, so I propose we do some GT300, GT500 and LMP races for a change from road-going cars...? I assume everyone has an LMP of some description and the 908 is amazing to drive, speaking of, did 5 laps on the latest TT last night (this morning...) and only cracked top 150... :( I am a full 2.5s off the pace! The times are immense, although the top guys are running actrive steering which is as good as SRF when it comes to cars which are twitchy so I'm not too disappointed.

Cheers, Bomber :)

Yeah, I don't think I will even hit the track again for that TT, nevertheless the 908 is an amazing car to drive as long as you are delicate on the throttle in the high-torque rev range...

So, I don't know what everyone else's opinion is of a PP limited LMP race or two and some GT300 and GT500 races but I'm keen to have some good close racing in real race cars before we switch over to the road-going variety for a while...?

On another note, not all the LMPs are equal as the same PP, what I would suggest is that Tier 2 & 3 drivers blow the dust off their Bentley Speed 8 LMPs (if they have them) as they are the best LMP for any PP level, IMO, and the opinion of most people who have tested and compared the LMP cars. 👍

Cheers, Bomber :)

Yeah cool as mate. I'd be happy to do some GT car racing!:)
Perhaps we could do the Rec list GT500's...that race with boost on at R246 was soo good!!:lol:tup:
As for LMP racing...I don't have the Peugeot or the Bentley. But its all cool, I'll rock up in something appropriate.:mischievous:

Cya's later boys,:sly:

The time trials are running from midnight tonight, until the 26th of September, so if you fall asleep at the wheel tonight, don't worry, because you've got 20 other days to do it :P

Yeah , up for some casual FUN races tonight , by all means hit the boost button ! It really is anyones race with light boost on , and may even eliminate the need to "handicap" anyone with a particular car.

I found myself in some boosted GT500 races yesterday , I spun out on lap 6 of 10 into last place (not like me at all :dopey: ) and had caught up and hit the lead by lap 9 !!

Boost = hectic racing = fun :)

Cool, sounds like everyone is happy for some casual fun races then. :D

Cheers for the information on the TT Stig, I will still do it tonight just because I can but good to know people don't miss out if the time is not convenient. 👍

I will open up a room as soon as I get back from cooking and eating dinner guys and will XMB message everyone who is online when I get the room open. See you all in a couple of hours. ;)

Cheers, Bomber :)

That is freaking awesome Tatail. I'm with Willco.. love that Rothmans Porsche. It's even got my racing number on it!!

Yeah it was amazing to see a car like that in person and on a track where it's meant to be, last event on the day in twilight conditions he had his lights on, they get along well! seeing the LFA in real life and at high speed is amazing when you race it on a simulator game, credit to PD the sounds very similar
