The Rules
Track Edge: Real
Penalties: OFF (May change)
Damage: Heavy
Driver Aids: All OFF except ABS
Tyre Limit: Sports Mediums
Handicap Tyre Limit: 1 set of Softs, Unlimited Mediums

To ensure closer racing all around i have implemented a 3 tier handicap system for the drivers who are not able to maintain a pace similar to the tier 1 drivers. The way the system will work is as follows;

Tier 1 Sports Medium tyres only.
Tier 2 1 set of Sports Softs, Unlimited Mediums.
Tier 3 Sports Soft tyres. Starts races on Sports Medium

All drivers start the race on Sports Mediums.

Failure to comply results in a point deduction of -20pts

Note: If you receive damage on lap 1-5 that needs to be repaired via pits you CANNOT change to Sports Softs until lap 6 (This applies to handicap drivers only).
Example; you receive damage on lap 3 and need to pit. You must stay on Sports Mediums.

Corner cutting Rules
1st offence: Warning
2nd offence: Point deduction
3rd offence: Point deduction & Disqualified (Given a DNF)

2 wheels must be on the black stuff at all times! In other words. 2 wheels must always be inside the white track edge lines.

Foul Language and Ramming Not tolerated!! - Instant DQ and removal from the Championship.

Warm Up lap

The first lap of every race will be a warm up lap to sort out grid positions. This is due to the inconsistency of GT5s qualifying system. The system will work as follows;

Once the qualifying session is over. Everyone is to remember their grid position and the driver in front and behind them. Once the race starts all drivers will drive around the track at their desired pace (over taking is fine be sure to take care when doing a warm up lap as damage will be on heavy) then line up in their grid position using the tracks grid markers. Once all drivers have finished lining up the race will start on the new minute using the total time in the top right corner of the screen.

DISCLAIMER: If you leave the qualifying session before driver positions have been finalised you will forfeit your position and start at the back of the grid.

Contact during warm up lap
Accidents happen so the following system is in place.
If you receive damage during the warm up lap you will start from pit lane. How this works is simple. You pull into the pits to have the damage repaired. Once you exit pit lane Auto drive you will apply the brakes (give room for the person behind to stop as well if more then 1 person in pit lane). When the race starts you must wait until the pack has gone past you then you may join the race.

26th of september? Eeek. I'll be neck deep in F1 2011 then!

EDIT: I'm loving the sound of that "Announced on the day" for the car. That will be great fun.

The tracks TBA? ... I like surprises (^_^)

Oni, small typo with the damage if you receive it between lap 1-lap 5, not that it's a big deal.

If I may, quick Idea. Announce all the tracks a week prior, then draw them out of a hat for each race.

Reason I say this is that we don't want to be able to practice on the tracks, but we do need to know them, and if there is a track within the list that someone does not know, they can use the first week to get up to scratch, so that if that track get's drawn for round 1, it won't be a handicap because they haven't got the racing line sorted.

This series is going to be absolute quality.

I assume the qualifier is on sports mediums? Or is that a surprise as well?

Looking forward to this, I really hope my internet is sorted!
Like Bonson said, absolute quality :)

I haven't driven any of these cars yet,
I should probably get a bit used to sports tyres!

Excellent, the new series.

I think keeping us in the dark over some of the details will bring something new to it all. I like the idea.

That said though . . .

At this moment, I will probably need to be listed as a wildcard driver, not a series regular. Work commitments will play havoc with weekday evenings for the fore-seeable future.

I will be able to make occasional races, but even that would be on short notice anyway.

Cheers Bono.

In regards to the tracks. That was the initial plan. I will reveal all the tracks after the qualifier and each race day will have the track pulled from a hat, cup, box or whatever is laying around as this will make things very interesting imo.

EDIT: No problem Mic. I've put you on the wildcard list for now.

EDIT 2: Mike as for the tyres they will be Sports Mediums for the qualifier.

Oni, will it be the same for the cars? Will you pull them out of a hat when we join the room?

The cars are already tied to their tracks. So when i pull out the track the car will be with that track.

EDIT: I have made changes to the rules. After some thought i have decided to remove penalties from this series. I trust the drivers in this series to not cut (which you have all shown) and if they do indeed cut that results in them taking a position they will yield the spot.

Now with these changes in effect this will introduce a new factor in everyones race. LAP TRAFFIC. With penalties off now, traffic will no longer become a ghost. Therefore if you are being lapped you MUST hold the racing line. The car behind is responsible for cleanly overtaking.

Events on the 17th is a definite no go for me as I'll still be in south korea

Event on the 10th is uncertain, as I'll be heading home from Bathurst on that date, I'll only have 12 hours to turn around and wash from a week at Bathurst to get to south korea. Normally it's an 8am flight but I'll do my best to make it on this night

Hey hey, new series thread!!:D:tup:

I really like the rules and way in which you are keeping car and track combo's silent until race day....very cool!;)👍

Hey oni, I don't really have any final ideas but there was a slight problem with the parade lap i think we need to iron out... IT does happen and thats life but sometimes we had some crashes on the parade lap... and just the same as getting hit in the middle of the race im not suggesting giving drivers the ability to go to pits and come out and turn around to drive back to grid but maybe the abilty to head into pits and pause just like we do at end of qually and once you have set the time and you go off then drivers with damaged cars can leave pits and rejoin at back of the pack due tot he slow first lap we normally take anyway...

I not sure on everyone else's thoughts? but i think we need something down paper for what to do with this problem even if it's nothing like my idea..

Also, i haven't been on gt5 lately... has anyone heard from our kiwi home mechanic? haven't heard or seen from him in 438673498564392875342 years and i miss taking the piss out of him.. haha

Just make them stop at the end of the pitlane, and they get to go when everyone has passed. That's how they do it in real racing.

Yeah i have heard from our kiwi friend. He should be back online this weekend if all things go to plan for him.

Now in regards to the parade lap. I really cannot understand how these 'accidents' happen. If there was some serious lag going on then yeah. But during the parade lap it is up to the driver behind to keep enough distance to the guy in front to avoid these. Also as the driver in front you should not be doing anything erratic, such has swerving side to side, braking hard etc. In real life yeah this works to warm up tyres. In GT5 it does absolutely nothing during the parade lap.

Now if such a thing does happen its going to cause multiple dramas. The biggest drama i see is people not knowing where they are on the grid when someone has to pit cause of damage during the parade lap. People are going to get confused seeing a blank spot on the grid, everyone would have to reshuffle. Also the pitting and reversing back to pole isn't suitable either. Anyway rant over.

Here is what we will do. If you receive damage on the parade lap. You will have to start from the pits. How it works is like this. You got damage and pull into the pits, get it repaired and pull out. The moment you regain control from auto drive you will apply the brakes and stop there. Once the race starts and the group passes you may then start racing.

that works sweet Oni, as I too have been on the receiving end of a parade lap shunt. Good stuff gents. This series is getting better and better as we fine tune it. Well done Oni.

Thanks Oni mate, I also agree with your rant haha but sometimes people have to swerve ahead of the pack due to someone late braking or whatever and it causes a domino affect down the back, so yeah there is sometimes accidents but good decision on what to now if it happens, cheers mate and good to hear lost will be back for sure :)

To all drivers remember the timezone stated in my posts are Sydney time.

I like your new rules regarding damage on the parade lap Oni...I do agree that warming up your tyres is futile...I don't notice any difference.:odd:

I disagree, I feel awesome doing it, the swerving, the heavy braking (unless barbie stops all of a sudden) and acceleration.

I AM DRIVER!! (said in the I am Sparta tone)

Hi guys,

I like the sound of the new rules regarding parade lap damage, I think it is a good initiative to take. 👍

Also, the only thing I think drivers need to be mindful of is that if more than one person enters pitlane for damage they need to pull off the 'automated' line as they become stationary because otherwise with penalties off they will remain 'solid' and more damage will be caused as others exit from pitlane behind them... :scared: ...Just something to keep in the back of your mind if you go to pitlane...

I also agree that the weaving does nothing helpful on the parade lap, so I am happy to have that scrapped. ;)

Cheers, Bomber :)

I'd love to join your league. I'm not in any at the moment and mainly race offline and do time trials with myself :(

I don't think I'd be able to do the qualifier though as I'm on nightshift that night... is that a deal breaker?

Cheers
Morgan
