A new season begins on the 9th of July 2012. Details below.

The qualifier will be held to sort each driver out into their respective Tiers (see Rules section).

Each driver is given 5 laps to set their best time around the track. The 5 laps are taken in 1 go. Once you enter the track (when prompted) you will begin your 5 consecutive laps to set your best time. Once your 5 laps are competed your best time will be recorded and you will be advised to exit the track for the next driver.

A maximum of 2 drivers will be on the track at the same time during the qualifier to ensure each driver has enough room to set their best time without distraction.

Day: 9th July - 11th July 2012
Qualifier Starts: 8:30pm (Sydney UTC+10:00)
Qualifier Ends: 10:00pm (Sydney UTC+10:00)
Track: Tokyo R246 /Reverse
Laps: 5 Laps per driver
Car: Citroen GT Race Car (ORS Specs)
Tyres: Racing Mediums
Tyre Wear: OFF

The rules for qualifying each race have now changed. To bring more excitement to qualifying and reduce traffic,
the ORS will now run qualifying sessions in shootout format. The way this works is similar to real life F1 qualifying.
Qualiyfing 1 (Q1)
20 minutes

Drivers have 20 minutes to set their fastest time. Drivers in positions 7-16 will have their positions
locked in for the race. Drivers in positions 1-6 will move on to Q2.​

Drivers 7-16 have their positions noted and ALL drivers leave the track. Once all drivers have left the track.
Drivers 1-6 will jump on track and begin their 10 minutes of qualifying.
Qualiyfing 2 (Q2)
10 minutes

The top 6 drivers from Q1 now have 10 minutes to get their fastest lap and lock in their position for the race.
A drivers fastest lap from Q1 does not have any relievence to Q2.​

When the qualifying session is over. All driver postions are noted and everyone leaves the track.
Once all drivers have left the track, we will then announce all drivers to join the track, leave pits and line up in
qualifying positions around the track. Once in position the race will start.

NOTE: If a driver misses the Q1 session then they will start from the back of the grid for the race.
This new process ensures drivers get a chance to set their best time and stop people from joining a qualifying
session last minute, getting high on the grid and upsetting other drivers who have been in qualifying since the start.


I ask everyone to be aware during a qualifying session. If you are on your out lap or not on a hot lap
please ensure you move out of the way of any drivers currently on their hot lap.

Round 2: Suzuka Circuit (Weather) - 23rd July
Round 3: Tokyo R246 /Reverse (Sprint) - 30th July
Round 4: Twin Ring Motegi - 6th August
Round 5: Spa-Francorchamps (Weather) - 13th August
Round 6: Grand Valley Speedway /Reverse - 20th August
Round 7: Rome/ Reverse (Sprint) - 27th August
Round 8: Nurburgring 24hr (Weather) - 3rd September
Round 9: la Sarthe 24hr (Weather) - 10th September
Round 10: TBA - 17th September

Car modifications: NONE, Oil change only

Corner cutting Rules
1st offence: Warning
2nd offence: Point deduction
3rd offence: Point deduction & Disqualified (Given a DNF)

2 wheels must be on the black stuff at all times! In other words.
2 wheels must always be inside the white track edge lines.

Foul Language and Ramming Not tolerated!! - Instant DQ and removal from the Championship.

Failure to comply results in a maximum point deduction of -15pts

A driver that consistently wins race after race will become subject to an increased ballast.
Example:
- Driver A wins round 1 and 2
- Ballast of XX applies to Driver A for Round 3 and remains for the entire series
- If Driver A continues to win another 2 rounds in a row then a further increase of ballast will be applied​
This is to ensure closer racing for all and provide more driver strategies.

Now the rules for this is simple. The car in front has the right of way and ownership of the racing line.
The car behind must wait to overtake and not muscle the car infront off the racing line.

Pit lane opens at the end of lap 5 for any tyre grade change and closes with 5 laps to go for your final tyre grade change. You cannot change to any other tyre grade until the end of lap 5.

Note: If you receive damage on lap 1-4 that needs to be repaired via pits you CANNOT change to any other tyre grade until end of lap 5. You must stay on your chosen qualifying tyre.

Example; You receive damage on lap 3 and need to pit. You must stay on your chosen qualifying tyre.


All drivers start the race on their chosen qualifying tyre.

The tyre limit is now open. Racing Hard, Mediums & Softs are available for use during a 'racing weekend'. A racing weekend consists of Qualifying and Racing. However there are limits to how you use these tyres. Everyone has an limited set of Soft/Medium/Hard racing tyres
(NO MIXING SETS, i.e Softs on front and hards on rear).

At the start of the racing weekend you will need to decide which tyre you qualify on.
Once you have chosen your qualifying tyre you MUST stick to that tyre.
You CANNOT change to a different set of tyres during that qualifying session.
You will also start the race on your qualifying tyre. The qualifying tyre and race start tyre count as 2 sets.
The tyre limits for each compound are;

Tier 1 & 2
Racing Softs = 2 Sets
Racing Mediums = 3 Sets
Racing Hards = 4 Sets

Tier 3
Racing Softs = 3 Sets
Racing Mediums = 4 Sets
Racing Hards = 4 Sets

Your qualifying and race start tyre count as 2 used sets

Here is an example:
Driver A qualifies and starts on racing softs
Driver A now has 0xRS, 3xRM & 4xRH to use in the race

Driver B qualifies and starts on racing mediums
Driver B now has 2xRS, 1xRM & 4xRH to use in the race​
In the event a driver receives damage during set changes i have allowed a buffer to combat this. If you receive damage on lap 1-3 of your new set of tyres then it will not count as a used set if you need to pit to fix damage. You may stay on that same compound. If you receive damage from lap 4 onwards and pit to fix the damage then that tyre will count as a used set.

Now here is the important part. ALL TYRE GRADES MUST BE USED DURING A RACING WEEKEND.
Here is an example;

Example 1
Driver A qualifies on Racing Softs
Driver A starts race on Racing Softs
Driver A must use minimum of 1 set of Racing Mediums and Hards during the race

Example 2
Driver B qualifies on Racing Hards
Driver B starts race on Racing Hards
Driver B must use a minimum of 1 set of Racing Mediums and Softs during the race

Example 3
Driver C qualifies on Racing Mediums
Driver C starts race on Racing Mediums
Driver C must use a minimum of 1 set of Racing Hards and Softs during the race​
Stewards will make a note of each drivers tyres and penalties will be handed down if you fail to comply.
Penalties can vary from warnings, point deductions and to disqualifications.

During the season there are 2 rounds out of the 8 rounds called Sprint races. During a sprint race the
use all tyre compound rule does not apply. However the start on qualifying tyre rule does.

Sprint rounds consist of 3 short races during the one session. The first race uses standard qualifying positions while
race 2 & 3 will use reverse grid based on the previous race result.

Points obtained during a sprint race differ from the standard championship points.
Out of the 3 races each driver must choose which race (1, 2 or 3) they choose to drop the points for.
You can only obtain points from 2 of the 3 races.
It is left to the driver to drop whichever race they obtained the least amount of points in.

To ensure closer racing all around ORS have a 3 tier system.
The way the system will work is by using ballast to ensure the tiers are on parity. See below;

Tier 1
Max Power: 503bhp
Weight: 1280kgs
Performance Points: 600

Tier 2
Max Power: 503bhp
Weight: 1250kgs
Performance Points: 600

Tier 3
Max Power: 503bhp
Weight: 1200kgs
Performance Points: 600

Once you know your Tier (via the season quailifer) you can then apply the required ballast and being pre-season testing.

There will be Driver Prizes and End of Season Awards (EoSA).

1st Up to 1 million car from the dealership
2nd Up to 500,000 car from dealership
3rd Up to 250,000 car from dealership

Prize Note: The credit limit can be spent on any single car from the dealership the way you see fit.
(Example; 1st place wants a Ford GT + Max Modifications = Under 1 mil so is ok!)

what is a ball park lap time guys? did our first test session last night and I want to see how far off pace we are. we were looking at mid 1:35's, tho Rod was 2 seconds faster!
Learning the lines of the track makes a big difference lol
 
Haha , great job Jas ! Yeah , I'm doing high 35s around Tokyo. Doing 50 laps around there last Sunday certainly helps !
 
Thats a fantastic piece of work Jasr! From your Season 6 photos I've noticed that the quality of all your photos is really good.

Unfortunately for me I still stuck in the 1:36s so a fair bit of work for me to be had. Rod's been giving me a few tips on setups and racing lines so hopefully I can improve at least a second or two.

I will definetely be running a few more practise laps before next week's qualifier. Really looking forward to it!

As Rusty said congrats again to those that won the EoSAs.

I did a bit of practice for the qualifier last weekend. Managed a 34 high with tyre wear on and 33 highs with tyre wear off. Still a lot of time to be gained so am hoping to get a bit more practice in before the qualifier. Currently got the flu at the moment so hoping it clears up before then.

Photo Comp - Regs

Winner - the weekly winner gets to chose the theme for the next week's photo comp. A new theme each week will keep it interesting and the different themes could suit the next week's race/track.

Closing time for submission - 6:00PM Sunday. By Sunday night there will be a post listing this weeks entries. Vote on Sunday and Monday, we should have a winner declared by Monday night around the finish of the weekly race. The winner gets to name next week's theme, even if he names the theme a day or 2 later, it should still be a workable thing.

Picture Entry - One picture entry allowed for the comp each week. You are allowed to post as many pictures from the latest round as you want, encouraged to do so. Just have the last picture be the one you've chosen to be in the comp. Red text above the picture indicating: Comp Entry The comp entry needs to suit the theme for the week, other shots can be whatever you did that looks good. If you only want to post the one picture for the Comp Entry, that's fine too.

Picture hosting - It's up to you how you want to host the pictures. It looks like most of you have that sorted out already, any questions just ask. There are guides on how to do this in the Photomode sections of GTPlanet.

Voting - All drivers listed in the ORS series are allowed to vote. When all Comp entries are in I will put a post in the thread and it will have the different entries shown as clickable thumbnails. It'll all be in a single post, should be a neat and clean way to do it. Then to place your vote, Just PM me your vote, when possible
- Voting Additional 21/5/12 : Gentleman's Agreement - Series members with entries in the voting pool are still allowed to vote. We simply ask that in the spirit of the contest we use a gentleman's agreement and that no-one votes for their own entry. A polite reminder will be issued if this rule is overlooked.

Photoshop - Only minor photoshop can be used on the Comp Entry. Keep it basic, things like cropping an image to frame it a certain way once it's off the PS3 is fine, other minor things like levels adjust is allowable. We're wanting to keeping it fun and easy, we don't want to have guys win due to their advanced photoshop skills. As that might drive away people who are not photoshop capable. Using the filters and effects in GT5 is fine, even advisable really as it is needed in certain situations. If you do want to photoshop a few of your other shots then that's okay, just not the Comp Entry image.

Other points

- Please don't use the posting of pictures as a way of criticising or 'dobbing-in' another driver's actions. ie: Here's a shot of "Dilbert" riding that ripple strip, I was following for several laps and he did this 50% of the time . . . moan, moan . . .

PS: Don't do the Ferrari F1 seasonal at Tokyo and then practice for quali. The F1 is on rails and will ruin you for the night !!!

Thanx guys. Unfortunately a few tech issues with that vid, including rendering it only in 480p rather than 1080, so apologies for the quality. Next one will be better. Using Sony Vegas Pro 11 editing software and a Hauppauge Gaming edition HD PVR to capture the action.

Video resolution now fixed (means you can see all my editing errors more clearly) :dunce:

Don't worry MrT as that is where i started, as with Jase who is now down into the 33s. Heres a tip, the car can handle alot of the corners faster then you think. I dare say almost flat sometimes ;)
