I don't know when M.M. stopped, but here is one more but newer.

............It sorta stopped in 1957. Two fatal crashes happened that year, that took 12 lives. Remember, MM was run on public roads, with spectators regularly standing on the roadside cheering on.
First one took the lives of Alfonso de Portago, a Marquis and a up-and-coming F1 works driver, and his co-driver Edmund Nelson, and 9 spectators, 5 of them children. Both de Portago and Nelson were......sliced in half by the Ferrari they were driving.
Second one was less severe, but still no less fatal - Joseph Gottgens died in Brescia while driving a Triumph TR3.

After that, MM stopped being a road race, and from 1958 drivers had to stick to speed limits. But even that ended in 1961. Nowadays, it's a time-regularity rally for wealthy middle-aged men to dust off their old cars and show 'em off......

Interesting story , thanks JKgo :)

This OSCA is in fact built by the Maserati brothers, so its a true Maserati, IMO. A similar version won Sebring outright in the hands of Stirling Moss, IIRC.

It's a classic racing sports car of importance as well as beauty.
