We lost our second of two cats today, Becky was 15. We lost Chloe last May, she was 14.

Chloe and Becky

The rig will wait today as I don't have my heart in GT5...

Godspeed Becky!

R.I.P pussy cat. You are have returned to the Force. My your everlasting days be blessed with fish and chicken.

EDIT: A good run for cats at that age. I've only had one survive over 12.

RIP Becky. I've got two pets and I would be devastated if anything were to happen to them :(

Sorry to hear this.

Our two older girls are 11 now which is partly what prompted us to get another kitten last year. We can't imagine a house without a cat in it.

Hopefully once the sadness passes a little you'll think of getting another one and give that lucky cat the obviously great affection you gave Chloe and Becky.

Logging in to offer you my deepest sympathies, Pilmat, and it struck me as somewhat odd that I was stopping my rush to work to post this - and then I realised I have the word 'cat' as part of my password.. . .

Sorry that you lost a friend of so many years, and probably a thousand special memories of fun - someone in the 'Cat' thread mentioned that the closer a cat gets to humans, the sillier humans get; and that is so true.

Cats humble us - we have no control over them as we do dogs that would slavishly follow our every command. Cats seem to have the life that most humans would love: eat, nap, play.. . .

As Lissa said - getting another one would help to heal the pain of missing them - and yes, would have been a good idea to have got a kitten some time ago, when your former cats were showing signs of age.

However - not too late. And if you are feeling that you are betraying your former friends by getting a new one - maybe think of it this way - that the Cat Spirit is one spirit divided among many cats, the same spirit, and you will be just getting a new piece of the same cat again.

Kind regards,
Harry.

Oh... I'm so sorry to hear that both two of your cats have become gone... I pay my sincere condolence to Becky for her death, rest in peace!

I'm not a cat guy, but I know how it feels to lose a close friend. RIP

Yeah I sympathize with you, losing your closest pet is such a grief and the death of your friends is inconceivable... Once I had a parakeet in a cage and he died by falling from the purch to the floor which lasted as a great sadness to me. :(

Thanks everybody for your kind words 👍

My wife is finding this loss particularly rough. Becky has slept under the covers with her for the last 15 years and they were very close. She is coping, but it will be a little while before she fully rebounds.

As far as getting more cats, with my new career and her job, we are not ready to invest the time necessary to bring a new animal into our home. It is, however, on my "projects" list :)

Sorry to hear about your loss. I'm so afraid of the day my cat dies, hes 19 right now and still going very strong, I grew up with him - he is my little brother.

Sorry to read about your loss. I remember the day my partner lost her cat (a few years ago) that she'd had from when she was younger. Her cat 'Ginger' (AKA 'Tripod'.. he had 3 legs) unfortunately passed away in her arms, it was a very sad moment for both of us.
I've lost 4 cats throughout my life so far, and when they passed away, i said i'd never replace them because i wanted to spare the heartache of losing a pet again... I'm really glad i changed my mind though, and have given 2 new cats a good and caring home.

I'm very sorry to hear that. The cat who I'd lived with since I was born died a few years ago, so I know exactly how you feel.

Sorry for your loss man. My grandma recently lost a 16 year old cat herself. Its tough. I myself lost a dog I grew up with.
