The problem with Pimp My Ride is that they may do all the cosmetic "bling" they want, but the car still runs like a piece of ****, they do nothing to the engine. Most of the cars that appear on that show need more engine work than body work.

Do you guys watch Tuner Transformation? They do some modifications to the engine, but most of it is cosmetic like Pimp My Ride.

Tuner Transformation does a lot of engine work, mostly bolt ons, but way more than Pimp My Ride. The most I've seen Pimp My Ride do is install an air filter...

i also like tuner transformation, but that one time they got that Rx-8. they didnt do too much but rims and some vinyls. well i think tuner transformations is better than pimp my ride...

Tuner Transformation is terriable, did you see the RX-8? They argued over a graphics kit. They are a but of morons.

Pimp my ride, God thats just as bad. But they have done a few cool things. Like the bed of the LUV Truck was sweet looking.

Overhaulin is great, Chip Foose is by far one of the greatest customizers of the time. He is truely is amazing.

Overhaulin' is definatly the better of the two!! I love that elcamino they did for that young kid!!
That would be a surprise of a life time .....and yeah Chip is amazing

Overhaulin' is a much more original show than that MTV knockoff. At least on Overhaulin' they spend time in making the car run smoother as well as fix up the cosmetics.

I remember watching the only episode of Pimp my Ride I've ever seen, in which they mod a Daihatsu Hi-Jet. Watching them throw on the big wheels, and all sorts of stuff in the interior, I was always wondering if the 'van' would be able to actually move all that stuff, considering it's puny engine fits under the passenger seat. I still wonder if that van can make it up a small hill.

Overhaulin' is ok. Tuner Transformation is kinda funny but they also seem to know what they are doing more than Pimp My Ride.

All PMR does is find a junky Civic, make fun of how the owner has taken care of it, then take it and install all this bling crap, paint it a wierd color, and then the car owner sees it and is over excited because they aren't real car people.

If they Pimped My Ride(like I'd let em), I'd go in there and they'd show me the bling and I'd be like "uhm...ok...did you make it any faster?" They'd be like "uhhh...no" I'd say "Give me my stock body and interior parts back and we'll call it even".

Overhaulin' is funny because the owners are freaking out thinking that thier car was just jacked. I'm surprized they don't get super pissed off and call the cops and cause a big problem.

I really only watch these 3 shows when there's nothing else on or when I want a laugh.

Monster Garage is cool, but their useage of the term "Freebie" is a bit over exaggerated. I highly doubt that they get all of those parts for free. Some of thier episodes like every part that comes in is magically a freebie. "Frrrrreeeeebie. Zip, Zero, Nada. But we did give them advertizing and stuff...".

I'm quite happy to say, that I've neer seen either of them.

I'll ditto Punkrock on this one.

Pimp my ride is effing trash. Viper is right about all interior modification and no engine mods. all they add is semi-ugly puke paintjobs, add cheesy chrome wheels and a whole bunch of useless crap you cant use unless you're a passenger.

Although one of the 2 episodes Ive seen, they rebuilt an engine from a 1987 CRX because it broke down on that guy that hosts the show.

Ive never seen Overhaulin'.

Never heard of Overhaulin' and Tuner Transformation. I only know Pimp My Ride and I like it for the fact that Xzibit and the guys from Westcoast Customs are pretty funny people. If they'd actually fit more parts into the engine than maybe an air intake, it'd be better, but whatever...
On German TV there's only one show which could be compared to those and it is called 'Tuning TV' and there they are fitting one part every show on a BMW M3 E46. So freakin' lame. It's like 'Hmmm... today we are fitting a carbon fibre hood...' and I am always like '*****! EVERYONE KNOWS HOW TO FIT A FREAKIN' HOOD!' and then one week later 'Hmmm... today we are fitting a new gearknob and new pedals...', me: 'AAAAAAAAH *throws the TV out of the window*'

Be glad you guys get so many shows!

Zero
You are crap.....;)

Monster House is the best:sly:

:ouch:

I watched Overhaulin' a few times, it'd be nice if they did something else than old muscle cars or 4x4s once in a while...

The only one I've ever even heard of is Pimp My Ride. I think it's abso****inlutely retarded how they dump $20,000+ into cars worth $200.

I've only seen Pimp My Ride out of the two. In one episode, a compact van was 'pimped' and , in my opinion, the end result was a ****ing mess. The paintjob was tacky and that spoiler on the roof was pathetic.

I wish somebody would make a show that was engine and restoration oriented. I guess Barret Jackson does some of that. I've never even heard of Pinp my Ride until this thread. I've seen Overhaulin' twice and it was the same one both times. It gave me an appreciation for painted flames I never had before. But the Camaro belonged to a former cast member of 90210... meh.

Milefile......Pimp My Ride comes on MTV at 10 on Thursdays I believe, but dont quote me on that.

I like TRUCKS on Spike TV....Though pimp my ride isnt bad....I mean those people have such crappy cars any change helps....they dont care about the engine anyway....though it just so happens to make a car ....a car...

How could we forget Super Tuner TV?!

Basically it's "look there's rice here, and over here, here's more rice, look how ricey this is, these are ricer parts, these are ricer people, and these are what ricer people do with ricer parts on thier ricer cars.". Hah.

Junkyard wars owns all.
