P. CARS 2, AC PS4 Controller assignments?

Hi, I have recently moved country for a while and could not take my PC and Fanatec sim racing gear with me, so it's back to a console and controller for now. I am looking at a buying a PS4 primarily for Project CARS 2, GT Sport and AC, however back when i used a DS3 controller in Gran Turismo 4 i preferred using the D-Pad to steer over the sticks and the triangle and square buttons for accelerator and brake respectively, triggers for gear up and gear down, i believe the buttons were pressure sensitive which helped modulation. For me using the sticks for steering and triggers for acceleration and braking is like rubbing my tummy and patting my head, i can do it but it it does not come naturally.

I would really like to continue with these assignments and wondered if the games i mentioned above will allow this? Also are the buttons on the DS4 still pressure sensitive and do these games utilize this feature? I'm pretty sure GT Sport will continue to offer these assignments but it is mainly Project Cars 2 and AC i am concerned with, if anyone has a PS4 and could verify this i would appreciate it, for me it's a deal breaker which if not available will just mean i forgo racing for now and read more instead.

Lastly if anyone could comment on how the controller behaves in Project CARS 2 and AC compared to GT Sport i would be interested to know if it feels as well sorted, i remember being very happy with the controller in Grand Turismo 4 and to give you an idea was putting down 6:26 at the Nurb in a tuned RUF BTR with no aids.

I used a pad in the gt4 days. I always used left analof for steering and right analog for gas/braking.

This took some time to get used to but it's better then using the buttons for gas/brakes.

All other buttons are to be configured to your liking.

Thanks for your replies, i've been busy Christmas shopping so have not logged in for a while. Well i bit the bullet and picked up a used PS4 with a controller for a $100 and got a copy of PCars 2, after a little tweaking i realized the controller was not going to work by using the X ◻︎ buttons for accelerate and brake as i had been accustomed to using in GT games using a controller, it was only then that a google search revealed that Sony had removed the analog pressure sensitive buttons for the DS4, which the DS3 had, and replace them with digital only input, meaning they now function like on/off switches instead of variably as the triggers and sticks do.

Like winking with my left eye, using the triggers and sticks is something i find quite impossible and find myself just mashing them together at the same time, so the only options i had left is resell the PS4 or get a wheel. Driving is in my blood and even if i have since realized cars in RL are just something i can no longer justify due their massive use of resources, i still enjoy the feeling of man and machine in perfect harmony, going to the limit and pushing beyond it. Heart overruled head and i just ordered a Logitech G29 (cost and reliability being the main factors) which i will find someway to fit into my new and rather small room.

In the end i feel i offset the guilt of spoiling myself by also snagging a Logitech G920 at Amazon Black Friday sale for £129.00 as a Christmas present for my house mate who has just got Forza 7 for his Xbox and was wishing he could afford a wheel, problem solved!

Happy Holidays All!
Cheers
