Not all Pandas are cute and cuddly. Here's one that's a Monster! This new special edition is possibly the meanest small Fiat ever - and it's just gone on sale only on the Internet.

Produced in partnership with Italian motorbike manufacturer Ducati, the limited-run Panda Monster (image) was first seen at December's Bologna Motor Show. It's now being sold through a special microsite (www.pandamonster.fiat.com) - the first time a Fiat has been available for order in this way. Bosses have yet to reveal prices for the left-hand-drive-only model, but it is expected that each Panda Monster will cost around £14,000.

Well, I'm speachless. Who would want to buy a £14,000 Panda?! It looks cool though.

What is a Panada? I mean I know its a little fury bear, but in car terms?

Is it just an exterior job or is there a Ducatti engine/tuning in it?

(I can't get the site to load)

It's on eof the cheapest cars available as new in the UK (Starts at £6,495 I think). It's pretty spacious, aparantley quite fun to drive and is very economical. Also, the 4x4 version is the slowest new car on sale in the UK, a VW Toureg can tow it on a trailer down the quarter mile faster than it will do under it's own power.

Wow sounds like our Aveo.

hmmm.. I hope it has turbocharged 2l, 5cyl HGT engine similar to the one in coupe.. mmm.. *drool*

The Aveo isn't that bad, I've been in one or two of them and for what they aren't they aren't bad.

The Panda 4x4 is actually great off road for it's size, the wheels are right in the corners so it get's up slopes fine, it's not as good as a proper offroader on certain terrain due to it's lower ground clearence, but other than that, it can get most places a Land Rover can, that's something.

LOL!

ARE YOU MONSTER?

I love translation and stuff.

I would drive a Panda before I'd drive an Aveo. I sat in an Aveo once, and I felt completely unsafe, even though the car wasn't moving. I think construction paper is thicker than the metal they used on the Aveo.

So what's the update? I heard Fiat was in trouble. Is this going to help?

I look at this car and note that the front kind of reminds me of the Nissan Xterra. Don't laugh when I (or anyone else) says "rugged supermini." This thing is a little beast. I usually think that plastic stuff on SUVs is SOOOOO unstylish. This is one of the few instances in which black is a color I wouldn't mind seeing this in. Black works VERY WELL with this model. Fiat is Italian, so this would be a rugged car to take on Italian mountain roads or even some city streets.

According to { http://coinmill.com/GBP_USD.html }, 14K pounds translates to about $25,318.92. Who would want to pay that much money for a Fiat Panda? Well, think about all the people who would ask the same question if we were talking about a Honda Civic here in America. You know, "who would pay that much for a car like this?" That in the sense of a completely average car which costs a lot or a car that isn't WORTH the price. I heard that Fiat Pandas and/or Puntos sell for pretty cheap. So I'd imagine this would be a good buy as well, even if this is a limited run deal. Maybe this would be a nice treat for those who want to impress the neighbors with a cool mini car. I always say it's a good thing to understand automotive culture in many different countries. Slow to us Americans is around 100, but there are countries with cars just as reliable and efficient, just not as big or powerful. This remains a nice mini. Dare I call it a capable and rugged mini. Those who look to take home this Panda Monster will have a pretty nice and pretty mean mini. And yes, there is a such thing. Size doesn't matter. That's why this thing is getting 84% approval love from this young Houstonian.

Car's cost more over here in general, though 14k is a little expensive for that class of car, you don't tend to get a hell of a lot of car for 14k. For example, the C6 Corvette over here costs 50km that's $91kUSD.

You could buy a new, basic spec Mazda6 for £14k. Definetly what I'd spend my money on...

I'd rather the Mazda6 sure, but like you said, it's base spec, you don't get much for 14k, and also as I said, that's agenralisation, so don't be suprised to search and find a good deal for 14k or less, you might just have to search for quite a bit.

looks more like an update of GT4's Nissan Pao to me. does it go Beep-beep?:P

you wanna monster, stuff a three liter under that hood, THEN it might be worth 28k US £14K for THAT? hell, tell fiat they would do better drooping a discont on a Coupe

this reminds me of an article I read in one of my car mags about the US "statute of import limitations", and I believe it involved the Panda. was Panda a european or brit COTY?

it seems that any foreign market car in the US is limited to those models over 25 years old. anything newer must
a. meet all the safety and emissions requirements of the US for it's year of production
b. must be fully converted to said US standards before even thinking of importing it
c. (unconfirmed) must pay a hefty EXTRA tax on top of the conversion fees and shipping for said model.

wich means your 6500 quid panda base, to be converted to the US, would probably run 40k US. only gas hogs from (curently) 1981 or older can be shipped over here. no econoboxes for the US in the middle of a major fuel crisis here :P
