Don Panoz has filled out his second LMP team this year. Jan Magnussen and David Brabham will continue in the first car and CART veteran Bryan Herta and GT ace Terry Borscheller will campaign the second machine. Young hot shoe Gunnar Jeannette will join the team as test and development driver. The 20 year old Jeannette has twice finished LeMans with a second in class and a 7th overall. This could the making of a tough team on the US road circuit. If Panoz can get the Roadster to perform at or near Audi's level the teams may be impetus to get over the hump.

Panoz should have a very good chance this year. If they can develop the LMP01 to be faster then it was last year. I'm guessing the Audi team didn't just relax over the winter break ;) :P

I read at DSC that Audi may be planning to have 4 or 5 cars at Le Mans this year. They want that third win bad.

Man, I hope someone can prevent that third win.

The Caddy program has only one fault, it is ultimately run by the cheapest and most miserly bunch of tightwads in autoracing, General Motors. Until GM gets their pinching fingers off the program and give it to a proper racing team (ie: Audi and Joest, Chrysler and ORECA, Mercedes and AMG, Porsche and Joest, Ferrrari and Prodrive) they will continue to be about 3 years behind the curve. Using an 8 year old Riley & Scott because it is cheap is not going to even be on the same lap as the Panoz much less the Audi.

I wish they could get the win, that division deserves it for putting up with GM's meddling all these years.

Interesting viewpoint KC. I was quite disappointed that they did not do better last year.

Hopefully, this year, Panoz = :bunny: and Audi = :turtle:

Not bloody likely, though...but DOWN WITH AUDI!

Edit: PS, doesn't GM also oversee the Corvette racing program?!? They've been doing quite well....you'd think that GM would give the same support to Cadillac, especially as they're competing in LMP. (And blowing a lot of money on commericals)

Strangely enough the Corvette program is run by Pratt & Miller racing team and not by GM. Why they cannot seem to do the same for the LMP project makes no sense to me. As soon as Chrysler dropped ORECA last year I would have turned the whole project over to them. They know what it takes.
