Vancouver Blade
Just wanted to update everyone and give you the latest news about the patch. We've finally got a release date which we're confident about so you'll be prompted to download the new patch sometime on Nov 23rd.

The DLC is Dec 3rd in Europe and Dec 10th in North America.

For 360 and PC both Patch and DLC are out Dec 1st.

Oh nice we finally got a date, my disc will stop collecting dust.
I am also curious to see what team tactics mode is. (DLC)

Excellent news! Thank you for keeping us here at GTPlanet updated!

i didnt read anything about the slow motion effect that happens unless its with better game performance.

Vancouver Blade already commented that the frame rate issue is being addressed in the "Improve General Performance issues" section of the patch :)

Hopefully, we can see a lot of people here reporting on the effectiveness of the patch after it is implemented :dopey:

This is great news! And not a moment too soon... As I mentioned elsewhere, all my 1st Career data was wiped out last week! :grumpy:( A bug I hope they've addressed as well!) So, if I've got to start all over again at least I can do it with a game that works properly!:)

Thanks for the info VB! 👍

Got any details on the bug that wiped your career? Let me know if you've got any info about what happened as I'd like to take a look at that.

Removing the copy protection from the save game would prevent loosing all your progress.

Binding the save game to the PSN account can prevent cheating of trophies and online stats should be saved on the server.

Motorstorm 2 and Resident Evil 5 got updates that removed copy protection from save games.

I don't know if there will be further updates to Shift, but you could keep that in mind for the next game.

Well, there's not too much to tell really. One day I turned the PS3 on, started Shift and got the "START NEW CAREER" screen. This is after playing the game for about 6 weeks. The only odd thing was, instead of the BMW M3 GTR appearing as it does when you first play the game, one of the cars from My Garage was on the screen!

So clearly some of the exisiting data was still there but apparently the game had failed to write something correctly to the save file the last time I had closed the game, because it couldn't load it correctly.

I tried loading the existing game file from the Options screen but it didn't work.

When I finally surrendered to the inevitable and tried to start a new career I couldn't buy any cars because it said I had no garage slots available. So I had to go back and delete the game file. Once I did this I could start a new career.

Just to be clear, my PS3 hasn't had this type of problem with any other game so I'm pretty sure it's not a PS3 issue.

Of course, I didn't really mind re-starting the career, but I did have a whole bunch of Vinyls that I had worked on for hours that I lost. I don't think I'll bother re-making those until I'm fairly certain that I won't lose them again.

If you have any questions just let me know....

I downloaded the patch this morning, 234 Mb (on PS3). It´s version 1.02.
I ran a few races with the Chevy Corvette and I couldn´t feel any bouncing problems at all! The Horse thief (cant remeber it´s full name) and the long Tokyo track works fine wheras the Eibizu touge drift track still was a bit bumpy... But over all the patch seems to done the trick. But then again, I´ve just tried some tracks witha few cars...

234MB? That's pretty chunky for a patch, they've certainly put plenty of work in to it. I worked on a fairly extensive console patch this year that was about 34MB, at least I thought it was extensive. ;)

I'll give Shift a good go tonight (dinner comes first obviously :D), not played it in about 6 weeks.

Played for about 30 mins and it all seems good so far. No problems.

Although, secretly in the back of my mind, I was hoping that rollover would be enabled for your own car (Since it's already part of the frigging game!). But it was a pipe dream :( (Still have no idea why you can't crash your own car, but others flip at the drop of a hat)

I'm downloading the patch right now, maybe it's a PAL/NTSC thing as to why you Americans don't have it yet?

Although the 234MB size is somewhat baffling... care to shed some light on why it's so huge, VB?
