I personally think it will be this Weds, I dont think SMS can get away with another week without a patch.

It's in their best interest to get it out as soon as possible due to the updated demo build.

The screenshot doesnt say that though, it just says its with 1st parties. No one at SMS has said who the 1st parties are, just a load of people assuming it is.

As was explained, the 1st parties are Sony/MS (i.e. the ones who make the consoles that the game must be approved for, SMS being a 3rd party who makes games for said console). The information is there, you just refuse to accept it and keep posting the same nonsense even days after you were corrected. But I guess you need it spelled out, so here ya go:

"The difference between a 1st and 2nd party dev is that the former is fully owned by the console maker while the the latter is usually only partly owned by the console maker. For instance, when Metroid Prime was released, it was a 2nd party Nintendo developer since Nintendo only owned Retro Studios partially. But Nintendo bought out Retro and owns it 100% so Retro is now Nintendo first party. Even though they only made Nintendo games in the N64 days, Rare was only a Nintendo 2nd party because it was only partly owned by Nintendo (I believe they owned the majority while the Stamer brothers owned the remainder) as is Monolith Soft (80% Nintendo ownership)."

1st party is the one who owns and manufacturers the console. SMS does not make consoles, nor are they partially owned by MS or Sony, therefore they are a 3rd party (who is relying on the 1st party to approve the game for their consoles).

That's not true, you were notified three days ago in the below post, complete with a screenshot of Ian saying it's in the hands of MS/Sony for approval.

I don't think Ian specifically said it was with 1st parties. It was a bit of clever "grey" area speech if I recall that thread properly. From what I gathered he was speaking about the general process of submission, not that the patch had already been submitted.

Think about this also, the PC version does not have to go through review, and one would expect just like the prior patch it would be released before the consoles reviews were complete. So where's the PC patch...?

Except he pretty much says right there in the link I posted that we're now at the mercy of the 1st parties. Yes, he leaves that last little gap for us to jump ourselves by figuring if we're at the mercy of 1st parties then the 1st parties must have the patch, but it's not a big gap to jump. But he is the master of the grey speech so who knows.

Except that SMS doesn't release PC patches ahead of time, they wait until all console versions are approved and then release them all at once so they can be sure all platforms are on the exact same version. This is the way it was done for the first patch and they've said that's how they plan to release future patches.

Wait, what? Didn't the PC patch (2.0) release on Steam before Sony, then followed about a week later by MS.

Secondly, I can't seem to find where he speaks about being at the mercy of 1st parties in the link you provided.
What I do see is him clearly stating the "The patch has even more updates/patches than the demo. It's in final testing now."

So I can't be both submitted to 1st parties and still be in final testing.

Nope, released on the same day. There's a very long thread on the PC2 forum discussing it and why they are withholding the PC updates until console updates are ready. What you described is how AC does updates.

Secondly, I can't seem to find where he speaks about being at the mercy of 1st parties in the link you provided.

Did you see the screenshot from Ian? His first sentence he says not to get excited because it can stay with 1st parties for a while (i.e. it's in submission and it's now up to Sony/MS as to when it will be approved for public consumption).

You must be looking at the wrong thing because he doesn't say anything about that in the link I posted. Here:

Why am I debating this? I don't even really care about this update...

Oh boy, maybe we should stop right here indeed. That was the same post I said people are interpreting as it being submitted already to 1st parties. This post is being taken is being of context. Again, if you read the entire thread of even the immediate parts prior to his comment you would see that he was speaking about the general submission process, not that the patch was indeed submitted already.

Later on an I quoted him as saying the patch was still in testing. If the patch was in testing how is it submitted for approval?

You said, SMS does not release patches at different times, but that clearly wasn't the case for 2.0.

Anyways carry on. Tonight is my second league night so I'm off to avoid placing last

You said, SMS does not release patches at different times, but that clearly wasn't the case for 2.0.

It was released for PC and PS4 on October 11 and then a few days later for XBox, of course since it seems like MS always holds up the patch process. So, in order for PC and PS4 to release together we obviously know SMS held back the PC patch until at least one of the consoles was approved and it's likely they intended to release all three at the same time until MS did what MS does.

So do you just cut and paste this comment in every thread. If you were over the game two weeks after it came out why are you still coming this part of the forum.
