I've just noticed that there is new patch available v01.03 239 mb. Share your impressions.

lol I've just started the same thread.
the car selection bar only shows the car that the selection box lands on the rest are blank?

But the zonda R now has adjustable final drive.

There is something about the drive i think but i am not sure of. I need to spend more time on couple of track, check if there is some critical bounces eliminated. But there is a good thing that there is a new patch finally.

There is message on main screen saying for more news visit nfs.com site but there is nothing there. That's weird, or in other word it's perfectly normal as for EA :sly:

Just two days before DLC2 👍

Ahhhh the table thing? That updates when you enter career mode. It sync's your friends achievements.

Maybe its gearing up for the DLC on Thursday and then they can say its not so bad becuase they patched a few issues days before charging for the DLC?

Re the PS3 version, I can't see them eliminating many of the current bugs (freezing, bumps etc) though, they've had a few goes at it and more and more keep appearing. Its still a very enjoyable title (I've won over 500 races online, lost a fair few too lol) but it doesn't run perfect and it could of been so much better if it were not for a just few issues (aweful punting online so much better penalties required against cheats, random lobbies is just a farse, abilitiy to change the ffb stength).

I suppose they have to make the most of it because when GT5 comes out Shift will probably be the last NFS series many PS3 racers will ever buy.

I can only speak for myself (360 user), but Shift has become a good racing title and I can see no bugs that badly affect gameplay any more - other than occasional slow-downs which is a bit of a pain.

I even reset my controller settings to defaults and it plays just fine, the lightning is a bit less comic like and the AI behaves quite good if you don't push your luck. In addition I thought the first time of doing a bit of tuning because now it seems worth while the hassle.

I sincerely hope there's going to be another Shift in the future, they've done rather well. I know, it's fashionable not to like Shift, but I'm not much of a fashion guy ;)

It's unfortunate that my PS3 hard drive pooed itself yesterday, but when it gets back from Sony I'm sure I'll have fun playing through the career mode again. This time without the ridiculous bouncing and slowdowns to contend with hopefully.

The game has it's issues, but hell if it's still not fun.

The slow down seems to have been fixed. I can now lap Laguna Seca at normal rate. I haven't yet run other tracks but I assume the problem is history now.

I seem to remember they did the same thing with the muscle car pack too. Had a big patch containing most of the data beforehand, then the actual download from PSN to turn it on was quite small.

Heres some more info on whats probably taking up a lot of that 239 mb that I haven't seen posted before. From GamersDailyNews

"Over 50 exciting new events have also been created specifically for these [new] cars including time challenges, endurance and sprint races. The challenging and spectacular new Riviera track boasts four unique layouts, each with daring corners, multiple blazing straight-aways and a few hairpins that will push these cars to the limit. Players that complete the package will receive an additional 125 Microsoft gamerpoints or 5 PlayStation Trophies as a reward for undertaking various exciting challenges."

No slowdowns,

there is still small a little but no big once like those on Autopolis GP and Donington

fixed the replays after you finish the race, a bug was prevalent where the hood or the trunk and wing would be missing. now it's there. that's another thing i've noticed. I just downloaded the patch and the Ring seems a bit different. I think the cars handle a little different too. At least my Gallardo does. It's not so twitchy. Then again my gallardo is probably the nicest handling car to me

Yes somehow Ring is different, with Gallardo tuned to 13.96 rating i did 6:45 and couldn't do less than that, i've tried and tried. But after patch i squeezed extra two seconds  They must change something in game physics. Maybe to match new cars.

We still have the self moving vinyls.

Tonight I noticed when online and someone leaves/booted my screen freezes for a second. (Not good on a corner)

Self moving vinyls? That's weird.. I had a glitch where, the first 3 cars all had the same color & vinyls (which ever one) if I was only using it on one of the 3 cars.

I'v had that but not on 3 cars.
The vinyls that moved are ones that have been rotated only happens on a few. Those that move i put back in place using the scew function instead of rotating them back. Seems to solve it.

Check this link \/ this made me mad.

Yea I saw that before I commented & was going to quote on it. I have the samething going on, you can rarely see the car make logo's.

Uhmmm, i checked the download page in the need for speed website, but the latest one there is only the 1.02 patch?

Where did you guys download it and where can i find the complete patch details for this one?

Since i download new patch, not just lap times are little better but also track itself.

After each race lap board looks little improved, also replays are now fun to watch. I don't have now weird situations with car garage, where after choosing car before each race, the car didn't show up, and there was empty place. And also finally l was able to finish all those races that earlier had issues with video frames. Good patch 👍

I think you are experiencing psychological differences. Sorry. But if this was a patch, crucial things like slipping off the outside corner of a track would not give you a "cut the track" penalty and make your lap time not count. And yet when I do actually cut the corners, I get away with it half the time. But when I slip off the outside of a corner, I get penalized for cutting. wow! It's still there.
There's also the issue with the quick tuning. no matter how you set it up. If you simply just press X to go to tuning, and do absolutely nothing and back out. You'll find your quick tuning settings are all back to 50.
Anyways, this "patch" was the pre-load for the new exotic car add-on, and for the announcement box on the main menu screen.

One change I noticed... At Silverstone I always had major slowdowns in Online races and in Career or Quick Races whenever there were more than about 6 high-powered cars in the field. I just ran 5 laps with 12 AI cars in the McLaren MP4 and didn't have a single slowdown! Even when there were a lot of other cars around me in the sections that always had the most trouble, it ran without a hitch.

Can I dare hope that they fixed the dreaded Framerate issues?!!!!:boggled:

since the patch i have noticed faster lap times, cut 2 seconds of nords to 6:18. also dont have the framerate slowdown at laguna and autopolis gp. also cant wait to see what the events is all about on the 29th

Excellent patch, well done EA. No more slow downs and the tracks that had bad bumps in them are nice and smooth now. I'll be able to finish the game now.
The car handling has improved because the grip level of the cars has increased, you can see that by how everyone are improving their lap times. Haven't been on line yet, so I hope the patch has fixed the bugs on there with the bad framerate slowdowns with more than 5 guys in the room.

The slow motion is now worse than ever! I was doing the Time Eliminator @ Nurb with the F1 and all throughout the race the actual driving was terrible. AI couldn't even drive either, I just stayed in one spot and won the event.

Slow motion/framerate is not fixed! This ruins the game completely.

So for those who've had it since launch... how are the physics now compared to the original game?

Might try and load it up when I've next got some game time.

does any one know what the community event screen is for under the new EVENTS opiton on the main screen? its just blank, are there community events planned, or am I just missing something.

On the 360 unchanged, of course. They fixed issues and bugs, with good success I might say, but the philosophy of Shift has remained the same.

So if you're looking for core sim gameplay, you'll have to look elsewhere. But I'm rather enjoying myself, because it has evolved in a rather solid, fun title with a few issues I can live with, and some worthwhile car selection.
