For all the "normal" people who like to do fantastic quality screenshots with an older card (I just have a nvidia GT9800)... here is my method:

Try to use nvidia inspector to make beautiful NO Aliasing pictures, it makes really nice background image like this:

Nvidia inspector settings:

AA compatibility=0x000010C1

AA - gamma = on
AA mode = overide
AA setting= 8x (8x CSAA...
AA Transparency Multisampling = enabled
AA Transparency Supersampling = 4x Sparse Grid Supersampling

Aniso mode= User defined
Aniso Setting=x16
texture filtering= On
LOD BIAS= -1.000
Texture filtering= High Quality
Threaded optimization= on
triple buffering=on

steps:

0/ max every settings in your game visuals.
1/With that, launch FRAPS, enter the game
2/ play a recorded replay from autolog (fps is really no importance, the goal is highest quality)
3/use F10 (default screenshot capture of FRAPS) on the fly or in photomode
4/edit the picture in any image editor (I add a bit of contrast) and downscale to 1200xXXX (original at 1680x1050) to remove the last remnant of any aliasing (there is really few already with the settings I use, even the native res are really pretty)

Bah, I don't mean to go off-topic but I'm so jealous on how good the pictures on the PC version's photo mode comes out compared to the consoles (specifically, the PS3).

If it makes you feel any better, those graphics card settings that Dude is using makes Shift 2 run at 10 fps with a 560GTX/i5-2500k :scared:
The pictures look stunning though.

On nogripracing, Jonzy said that with my settings, he gets 30-50 FPS on his i7+GTX580

so maybe the next patch + future middle range cards will give us this quality ingame afterall.. say 6 month to 1 years for us, not so fortunate people... ;)

In the meantime, As a photographer amateur, I take a lot of pleasure to create wonderful high rez screenshots with the game graphic setting maxed on my old card.

Not sure what those in that thread are talking about because I can force all settings to ridiculous levels in CCC and still get playable framrates (30's) with my Radeon 5870.
