Who ever wanted to take their hard earned Enzo, Bugatti, or Ford GT to the snow and dirt? If you did, you're out a :censored:in' luck, cause PD says "This car cannot be used on dirt and snow courses". Whoah, Whoah, What the 🤬.

Counter examples (Red font is an idiots remark)
Bugattis can't go in the snow!
Explain this then. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TI0eJkNTfMU

But powerful 4WD cars can't go in the dirt and snow!
So why can I take a STREET TUNED 2010 GT-R V Spec? Try it, it works

OK fine, you win on 4WD. But the Enzo and Ford GT are RWD cars. They can't possible handle in dirt/snow, can they?
Why in hell is the Dodge Viper and ZR1 able to go in the dirt and snow. I can't even go 2 feet without spinning out at 20mph in the ZR1 (It's already a terrible spinning top on tarmac anyway). I'm sure and Enzo and GT can handle better

A-ha, I know how I can make myself look stupider! Aren't those all mid engine mounted cars?
Ummm... Lancia Stratos?

My point is, Polyphony should get rid of the stupid restriction. If the car is bound to fail on snow and dirt (which it probably won't), let it, and let us drive it there. I do hope Polyphony doesn't put this 🤬 for GT5.

Notice in the Veyron video it is only going normal speeds, not race speeds.

Also, don't argue with yourself. People will think you are insane.

Your Argument is invalid. Any Car can drive in dirt or snow, but would you take a Ferrari Enzo or Bugatti and race it on a WRC stage? No, it would shred to pieces from all of the bumps and stones. Yes, there's no damage in GTPSP, but imagine the criticism GT will get for being unrealistic because you can race an Enzo on dirt.

@ Tom
If you want to put it that way...

@ Justin
Well of course I'm insane! :nervous::dopey::mad:

@PJ-FFL
Did I have to go to the Bentley's speed record on ice?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCXkaR_6BS4
Can't turn? That's why there's a brake button. So let an Enzo shred to pieces, at least people will at least have the chance to at least know why and how it can't. And who knows, maybe it can perform well.

That Bentley was only traveling in a straight line on a smooth, flat strip, which would probably feel smoother than even asphalt. And again, multi thousand dollar supercars racing on dirt and snow is unrealistic and the cars' bodies, chassis, suspension and engine will be destroyed within seconds of racing, and I don't think PD or the manufacturers would want to see that happen. Besides, there aren't any dirt or snow tires for those cars anyway, so enjoy sliding all over the place.

I think its probably license restrictions that prevent cars from being driven on dirt/snow courses. Not that you can't in real life, but those car companies don't want those cars portrayed in that way.

It's more like... those cars don't have nearly enough suspension travel to drive on a rally stage.

You can drive a Bugatti or an Enzo on a slick piece of asphalt, yes... but in six to eight inches of dirt or snow? Errh... no.

Yes, the GT-R can't do that either, but it's a "sportscar", not a "supercar"... yes... I don't get the difference, either.

Besides... even if you did allow it, it'd be pointless to the point of pointlessness. Let's see who can do the longest burnout on Cathedral Rocks while sitting at the starting line? Sure!

Bingo. I'm not completely sure about this, but driving on the now courses the cars in GT4 suddenly had skinnier tyres.
Can you imagine a Veyron with these tine skinny spiked pieces of rubber? Thought not.

Bugatti probably said something like this to PD: "alright we'll let you play with it a bit and fit slicks, but we draw the line at 3-inch-wide tyres on our car that needs massive slicks to actually move on tarmac"

The only supercar i would consider to be able to go off road/ice would be the Lamborghini Gallardo, only because it has 4wd. But it's still too low and would just wreck all the body panels! Oh and fifth gear tested a Gallardo on snow and it worked fine.

I don't see any problem with the GT-R on dirt. IMHO, it's very possible to race it in RL, just jack the suspension up, it has everything there.
Reckon they could even make a WRC out of it, if they weren't buried to the neck in Super GT.

My god you're whiney :P
Okay, so they forgot to apply the restriction to the Viper and Corvette. That doesn't justify dropping it for all cars. I agree, the Enzo would be just as bad as the Viper on snow, which is why I don't want to take it there. You try and enter a RWD car into a snow event in real life, it'd be ridiculous, you'd break the car if they even let you in.
The restriction is there for a reason.

You obviously don't have much of an understanding of rallying prior to the Audi Quattro then.

RWD cars on snow rallys were the norm back then (and with Power to weight ratios not much different to current WRC cars), far from breaking the car they stood the test very well.

Mk 2 Escort RS2000 in the snow or how about a Lancia 037?

Still not convinced that a RWD can cut it on Snow, then watch this from 1.10 onwards.

Scaff's got his history right.:)
The GT-R is basically just as fast as all the other "supercars" as is the ZR1, even tough they are a fraction of the price.
The snow is not that deep in the Chamonix track, it even opens to tarmac sometimes. I'm sure it's possible to take a Veyron on the snow. People have done it with even worse equipped cars.
Suspension? There's an app for that *cough*quick-tune*cough*

When I said you'd break it I was more referring to something like a Corvette or Enzo. It can be done, and it usually is at road speeds, but racing a Corvette on snow is akin to doing it on dirt. You just wouldn't try those speeds in that kind of sports car.

I want gt5 out now... I don't care about the snow thing.. As long as the dam game is OUT!!!!..... dammit PD hurry up!! (But honestly the Veryon looks good in the snow).

Update:
Just tried the Spyker C8 on snow (yes it's driveable on the snow). Same layout as an Enzo, and it's pretty low to the ground, believe me, I've seen all three cars up close in personal in real life (4 Veyrons, 2 Enzos, and a Spyker) and pictures to prove.
Point is, this restriction shouldn't be in place at all. I can talk (or whine as you folks want to call it) about why it shouldn't be there. You get me?

It's there because, in real life, you couldn't do that. The bottom of the car would get rooted if you tried to race a Spyker on dirt. The game can't represent that, as it lacks damage, but you couldn't do it in real life so you can't do it in the game.

Really it's drievable on snow? It's hardly driveable on the road! You must have assists on. All of them :P

I see a lot of people arguing that if you use some of the restricted cars on dirt in real life they'd be damaged, and rightly so, they would, matter of fact they'd probably end up being destroyed.

But in GT:PSP loads of cars can go on dirt that wouldn't usually be able to in real life, for instance, the RUF Yellow Bird, or the R35 GT-R SpecV. For me, the limitations are just a bit stupid and pointless, tbh.

The question is... yes, in stock form, many of those cars don't have the suspension travel or ground clearance to drive on a rally track... but are the suspensions easily modifiable to give them that travel? For the RUF and GT-R, you could argue, yes. For the Spyker... I don't know. For cars like the Enzo and Veyron, I'd wager the answer is no.

Ok, fair enough, bad example. But you get my point, right?

Of course.. the lack of consistency is disappointing. Preferable would be either no unrally cars (dodge viper?!), or be able to use any car for rally.
