Possibly the best chick flick that us guys could enjoy. It was a long movie 183min., but the character building was complete and necessary. I thought it was a good movie.

Growing up on Oahu, and seeing the "USS Arizona" on several occations, the movie seemed to be rather moving (exposing my sensitive side *chick magnet*). But it was more of a love story than "Private Ryan In Hawaii".

Anywho, I thought it was worth renting, and the 5.1 encoding was pretty good.

Yes it is. All the way up to the 45 min war sean. I also liked all the documentary stuff that came with it.

I too enjoyed the movie....

It seems this love story/tragey equation works...

all types of emotional strings being pulled. Guy/girl, doesn't matter.

Sorry folks, but I thought it was garbage :(

Another Bruckheimer 'blockbuster', sticking to the old formula of going on and on and on and on and on (Armageddon anyone), and being all morally holier-than-thou, and all about America saving the world again. The romance stuff in it was so predictable and facile that it defied belief, and the battle scenes, while very good, were obviously fake, even down to the aeroplanes flying through the debris of their own strafing: no pilot in their right mind would do that!

Just my $0.02 ;)

Thank you GilesGuthrie for bringing a NON-American perspective on the movie... It really made me think how a NON-American might look at this movie and other movies differently as well. Church Hill was at odds with Germany, so we "America" sent over one of our "Boys" to save the day. Made for a dramatic part in the movie though...;)

There is no doubt that this movies was a "Hollywood" production and not a "Documentary"..... Was it worth renting? I would say yes. Was it worth seeing in the theatre? I would say no. Could I do a historyical study about Pearl Harbor from the movie? Absolutely not.

I only went to see it because the wife and I are members at the local cinema: fixed monthly fee, unlimited access. That way we can go to films without wondering whether it will be worth the cost. Even so, Pearl Harbor wasn't worth the opportunity cost of the three hours!

I too saw this movie. I thought it was great. Maybe too much of a love story, but I thought the war scenes definitely made up for it:eek:

OH MY GOD! WHAT AN AWFUL FILM THIS IS:-

IT WILL NEVER WORK AS A CHICK FLICK BECAUSE JUST AS THE GIRLS ARE GETTING ALL MUSHY THE Japanese GO AND SPOIL IT FOR THEM BY BLOWING UP ALL THE DISHY MEN..

IT WILL NEVER WORK AS A BLOKE FILM BECAUSE YOU DIE OF BOREDOM BEFORE THE Japanese GET A CHANCE TO BLOW EVERYTHING UP...

FAR TOO LONG FOR A LOVE/WAR FILM...

TOO "BLOCKBUSTER" ALMOST GLAMORIZING THE ATTACK OF PEARL HARBOUR?.. I DID NOT FEEL AN OUNCE OF PAIN FOR THOSE POOR PEOPLE THAT DIED THAT DAY, WHEN I WATCHED "SAVING PRIVATE RYAN" I CRIED FOR THOSE SOLDIERS, I FELT AS THOUGH I KNEW WHAT THEY WERE GOING THROUGH AND HOPE THAT WE NEVER HAVE TO SEE OR EXPERIENCE ANYTHING THAT THEY DID, AND I THINK THAT IS WHAT THAT FILM DID TO ME, IT OPENED MY EYES.. BUT "PEARL HARBOUR" JUST SAID LOOK AT US YANKS WE ARE GREAT, LOOK AT THE LOVELY PYROTECHNICS... THIS IS NOT ANTI-AMERICAN JUST DIDNT LIKE THE FILM (IMHO)

Hey guys - it seemed to be you guys across the water that enjoy this film and us in the U.K not enjoying it that much - My mate from work has seen this and reckons its no good at all - He said that the bird ends up fettling with BOTH the main charachters and he fell asleep b4 the Japanese started bombing jw :D :D :D

I liked it. I'm a big special effects guy, and it was chock full.

I just got it for Christmas too! :D

i haven't seen it yet but i'm guessing exaggeration comes into play ....i'm no historian but the U.S. apparently brought WWII to an end but didn't they kind of start it?
