BARCELONA, Spain (AP) -Pep Guardiola will not continue as Barcelona's coach after this season, according to Spanish news reports.
Guardiola, whose contract expires this offseason, is expected to announce his decision on Friday.
The 41-year-old manager has led Barcelona to 13 trophies since taking over at the beginning of the 2008/09 season, including two Champions League crowns and three Spanish league titles.
During the past week, Barcelona exited the Champions League semifinals at the hands of Chelsea and suffered a home loss to Real Madrid that will likely cost it the Spanish title.

So, where could he go? England? And how long would it last?

Was it his magic touch that gave Barcelona it's winning streak? Or would next season show that he actually is crap, and it was all Messi and co?

It would be something like that, I don't see him going to anything less than top 5/6 in the Premier league. Would you see him coach the Rangers or something? Or an Italian or German team? I just can't.

Yeah I really doubt if he is such a good coach. I think the success of Barca the last few years have mostly been the players.

Wasn't he the one who played Messi in the middle instead of the right? I'd say he was a brilliant coach, and hopefully for Barcelona, the next coach picks up where he left off.

Barcelona will be covered. No doubt about that. But Pep on the other hand...
Barcelona's team is a real team, everybody likes working with each other. You can see it when they play. There is no other team like them. And I can't believe it was the coach who brought all that.

From what I have heard today I think Pep is going to be taking a bit of a break from management for now. He only ever signed contracts a year at a time even at Barcelona, I don't see him fitting into the managerial cutthroat culture that is the premier league though. I could only see him going to Man United or Arsenal as replacements to their longstanding managers.

I'm thinking Man City ?

I would say you're being overly critical about him Dennisch, his team were called the greatest ever in the pre match build up on Tuesday and he's won more trophies than I care to count. Unlucky not to get the Champions League this year, not really his fault Messi missed the penalty.

I just don't like the way Barcelona play at all. Too much diving and slow passing. I don't know how responsible Guardiola is for this as it's always been how they play, but I don't want it at Chelsea.

Well the diving and all is just Spanish football.

I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I just can't.

I don't know how well this goes over, but is there a chance that he could go to an MLS team? I know that it is early in the season for us to have any talk of a coaching change, but the time frame of the season here in the US (March to November?), could give him a long enough break if he wanted one. I would say that he could go to any team that he wanted to right now in MLS and get a pretty good paycheck.

Unless he has a craving for even more money, instead of winning European leagues.

Only washed up coaches and players head to the US.

I don't know about that. David Beckham certainly turned his career around with the LA Galaxy at the tune of $6.5 million per year over the next three years. I'll give you Thierry Henry, who joined the Red Bulls, but overall, with the way that MLS is set up with 8 internationals allowed per side, it can turn careers around if given the right motivation.

im a man united fan..and i think he will replace fergie when he actually calls it quits..:boggled:

Was going to say the same thing. The way Pep works, he would spend a year just watching English games, understanding totally what is needed, then give it his all, exactly as he has done at Barca.

id be happy to see him replace fergie..i think itll be him or david moyes..:)

Pep is running away from Mourinho ;)

I mean the second Barcelona looked to have lost their absolute dominance, he was ready and waiting. All it took was to be knocked out of the CL and inch closer to losing La Liga for him to jump ship. Good coach but he should have stuck around another year and see how next season would have turned out
