I need some help. I don't have a great deal of expertise in real good camera's. I was thinking about getting a camera as a gift for someone that loves taking pictures, and doesn't really have a good camera to do so with.

I don't need top of the line, remember this is for a hobby, not a profession. Digital isn't really needed either. She has a digital camera she uses for her quick shots, and with this 35mm, I think she would want film. So she can buy different films for different shots. I would like to stay under 300.00 too!

I was looking at the new Cannon EOS Rebel T2 SLR. Know anything about it? Is it what I am looking for? Are there better ones? Any input is helpful!

Thanks! :)

You generally can't go wrong with the Canon and Nikon's SLR film cameras... I'm not sure about their line-up though. I guess that's what you get for growing up in the digital age :indiff:

Worst case, she'll want to pick up a few lenses here and there. Most likely a wide angle and a telescopic to take care of what the stock one can't

IF you can find a Canon EOS 5, Especially if you can get it with the VG10 grip, you're set for life. Eye controlled focus, eye controlled exposure compensation and enough manual modes to keep you busy for weeks. I'm scared each time I take a picture, and we've had this for a few months now :scared:

And make sure you get a decent external flash - something like the Speedlite 540EZ or better. An external flash works infinite times better than the (any) build in flash. + , with the 540EZ, you can take pictures of stuff 40+ meters away in complete darkness (the camera will use infrared to focus) 👍

Thanks guys for all the help! I went ahead and bought it! It should make the perfect gift, and I can't wait to see the expression on the face of the one I am buying it for!
