it cant be my imagination that more then a handful of songs from my Personal BGM playlist are playing, I think my have fixed what many are deeming the custom bgm playlist glitch.

THE PROBLEM: my personal music playlist that I created by uploading songs onto my ps3 for gt6 don't all play, it tends to just play a few of the same songs over and over, maybe go back to the default gt6 music and back to the same songs over and over.

WHAT I "WAS" DOING, and most likely everyone else is doing: while on the ps3 menu screen (not playing the game/having it not booted up) uploading music to the ps3 and making a folder/album for them or leaving them as is (usually when I do they go to a folder called unknown, but I guess that depends on how you choose to categorize/view your songs on the ps3), then going into the game and selecting that specific folder with my music.

THE FIX:
from the ps3 menu screen where you see: your settings, music, pictures, games, etc.
1) go into music

2) go to/highlight the song you want to hear while playing gt6

3) press triangle button it will give some options: Play, Delete, Add to Playlist, Delete, Information

4) press X on "Add to Playlist", I created a new playlist (I didn't have any yet) so you should do the same, name/title the playlist however you want.

5) keep highlighting songs you want to hear on gt6 & add them to that same playlist you just created until you satisfied with your playlist.

6) boot up gt6 and go to options to pick out your personal bgm like your normally do

7) press X on Playlist, and press X on that new playlist you created. On the play mode options I have it on shuffle:embarrassed:n and repeat: folder. There you go, you should be on your way to finally enjoying all your songs on GT6

NOTE: sadly i noticed GT6 will sometimes forget to play your songs and go back to the regular gt6 soundtrack BUT if you enter an area/screen where the music changes (for example: getting an oil change, or purchasing a new car) once you re-enter the previous screen the music will re-load WITH your playlist :) so you wont have to suffer GT's crappy songs for long :)

final thoughts: I think that due to bad programming the game doesn't like/or know to play all the songs within specific music folders you have created on your ps3 but WILL PLAY all songs within any actual PLAYLIST you create. Enjoy and please confirm if what im saying is true or im some lucky bastard.

I can confirm that this does indeed work, thanks!

Unfortunately the volume of user BGM still is much lower than the 'normal' music, even on max setting.

Yea had been doing this from the beginning. It does tell me on some of my new music that there was an error playing but only on a few songs

I have a few suggestions I copied from the original BGM thread.

  • Use non-variable bit rate. I've ripped CD tracks and picked up a few obscure things online of various bit rates, and straight non-VBR mp3s will play fine. High bit rates like 320kbs will play fine.
  • Make sure that the ID3 tag info is in the file header. This is easy to check and update. Use Winamp and right click on the title, then select "View File Info" in the pop-up box. The ID3 info, artist, track and album name, etc, should be displayed. If not, click on the Auto-tag button, and Winamp will search the internet music database and plug the right info in for you. I think the other good media players like Quintessence will too. Naturally, you have to be online.
  • Some mp3s have issues for whatever reason. I read in this post at the bottom that those mp3s must be repaired. They suggest using something called MP3val available here, though every once in a while, it can't repair a track. I've used it on all my mp3s, and my entire playlist plays fine in GT6. Before, a couple of them loaded into my PS3 showing corrupted files and wouldn't play.
  • The changing volume levels are dependent on the mp3s you load. I've long ago stopped surfing for mp3s online because quality is all over the map, as are volume levels. I roll my own now from CDs I buy, and use music software I have, being a bedroom musician, and use it to even out the volumes. Some older CDs I own have much lower volumes than new ones which have suffered from the loudness wars. Those I have to boost in volume too, before converting to mp3s :P

it does seem lower then the normal bgm but just recently played the career mode with my sony headset recently and it seemed to be better, idk if was the surround sound or my imagaination but it sounded better and more immersive. so throw them on if you got them it does make gt6 more enjoyable.

I already am using headphones :)

This is definitely an issue. I set up my playlist and the longer I play, the more I seem to hear standard GT6 soundtrack songs instead of mine from my playlist. If you delete the songs from the GT6 Library, you still just get silence where a song should be
