Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak:

"Needless to say, the car is quite a beast (or more specifically, being a Peugeot, a lion…). Using a rear wing from the company’s 908 Le Mans prototype, the car develops 875hp from a 3.2-litre twin-turbo V6, and weighs only 875kg (1,929 lbs.)."

That sounds familiar. Makes me think the Peugeot VGT is actually using the specs of the coming T16. Maybe they have just changed the appearance and aero?

I think the Peugeot VGT further confirms what Kaz has said about the 208 T16 being included in GT. That would explain the VGT being quite a handful to drive because of the insane specs, and if I'm not mistaken, the VGT also generates quite a considerable amount of downforce (I checked the specs sheet and settings of the car as soon as I got it from the Seasonal, but forgot the downforce values :ouch: )

So they went the INFINITI road of bolting a similar engine to a concept design (think Q60 Eau Rouge). I was almost liking the car...
EDIT: Although the Eau Rouge was a concept, it is in FM5, which considering that they generally aren't doing concepts anymore means it at least had some chance at going into production.
