Sebastian Loeb has become a dominant force in rallying in recent years, winning the World Rally Championship for 9 consecutive years for Citroen, while also setting a huge number of records. While he retired from rallying in 2012, he raced in the 2014 World Touring Car Championship in 2014 for Citroen.

He joined Hansen Motorsport in 2012 participating in the World Rallycross Championship with a Citroen DS3, where he won at LA, and continued racing for Hansen for several years. Hansen Motorsport teamed up with Peugeot Sport in 2014 to become Team Peugeot-Hansen and became the Peugeot factory team in the FIA World Rallycross Championship.

For the 2016 WRX season he drove the Peugeot 208 WRX and finished 5th in the standings, just 30 points behind Petter Solberg's Citroen DS3.

The car itself is built on the same chassis as the rest of the FIA WRX grid but with bodywork based on the Peugeot 208 production car. The engine is a 2.0 Turbocharged inline 4 producing 600 BHP, with the AWD and 6 speed manual sequential allowing the 208 to go from 0-100 KM/H in 2 seconds, making it almost as fast as a Formula 1 car.
