I love my car, it's a sickness, it really is, but I'm sure that if you're here, you have a chance of catching it too (good luck finding the cure).
She's silver, I don't know exactly what shade, MY'01, a 5 speed manual, with a 2 litre naturally aspirated engine, rated at 134BHP when new, currently with 150,000kms.
And being a hatch, it can take virtually anything, excluding station wagons, vans and SUVs (none of which are fun to drive, having driven all of them whilst a learner), I don't see how I could ever drive a coupe/convertible or especially a sedan after owning this car.
And the grip! Very hard to get it to understeer without being completely stupid with it, it currently has Pirellis (not reccomended, they wear out very fast), but even with XM1s Michelin the car handles like its on rails. I also get 8.3 litres per 100kms (I don't know the MPG, I think its in the 40 zone), and was great value when bought, I'm the second owner.
Problem with liking your first car so much, is that I don't want to get rid of it.
Had some journeys in this car, including some road rage incidents, speed games, as long as I don't give away my number plate I think I'm ok.
My first one was a 40km/h crash into a black Holden Astra. I had my Probationary licience for about 3 weeks, and I personally think neither of us were truely at fault, another car swerved in front of the Astra (which was ahead of me), and we were already breaking for a set of street lights on an 80km/h highway. The middle aged female Astra driver, freaked out, and breaked 'harder', and I was neither prepared as her break lights were already on, but truthly at a realtively close distance, and I was already slowing down, braking, just not expecting her to stop that suddenly.
Another time, I was at a car park, and I was waiting to get a spot. The parked car started reversing, then turned (backwards) towards me, and third car decided to try and take the spot from the other side. So I said 'oh no you don't!' drove straight, covering the spot, not able to get in. Big mistake. If any of you ever come to Australia, avoid a suburb called 'Wantirna South' not that close to where I live (thankfully), its really a disaster zone, full of petty people, and I happened to encounter one that day, particularly at a slimy shopping centre called 'Knox Shopping Centre', I was only there for 10-15 minutes, came back and my car had been keyed!
I'd love to meet that guy and rework his face a little bit, but, in the end of the day I can't, and even after going to the police, who contacted the shopping centre's security, they didn't find who did it.
Then there was the time some guy tried to overtake me, just on a highway. I was in the overtaking lane, overtaking a car on my left (Australia), when he decided to 'under' take me, but I cut him off / he didn't make it in time to undertake me. At the next set of street lights, he ran up to my car, and I foolishly, as a naive 19 year old, let me window 'all the way down' *facepalm* he abused me for driving 'unsafely' or something, then popped me in the mouth! Not that hard, but I think angle had a bit to do with it, he looked pretty big, and he had a friend in the car, so I decided to just keep driving - I really should've put my hazards on and called the Police, to get that punk thrown in jail, but lesson learnt now.
One time, I don't know why, but there was a car behind me, and I think I was 18 (noticing a pattern here?), and he started to indicate to me that he wanted to go faster, and I don't know why but I did, I thought I knew the roads better than this guy, he'll never keep up - turns out he could. We ended up doing 80kmh in a 50km zone, little traffic and late at night, and for some reason I got the thought that maybe he was chasing me, so after a long corner, I snuck into a side street, turned my lights and car off, and he drove on by not noticing me, probably paranoia on my part.
One of my favourite ones, I was out in the city with my girl friend, and we'd seen a comedy show and were driving back. We exited a freeway, and there was a booze bus after a huge right hand turn. I had missed taking off immediately at the lights as I normally would've (luckily I was distracted), and then we saw the cops, and I'd had a beer or two while I was out, but on probation the rule here, blood alcohol must be only 0.00 so even a drop can mean big trouble.
As I came around, I thought 'this is it' but luckily, since I was distracted, I was the first car to get waved off! Boy was I saved that time.
That's my Peugeot.
