The Onyx was officially launched during the Paris Motor Show in 2012.

The concept of the car is based on new techniques and materials and NewspaperWood is one of them! The Onyx’ futuristic interior design consists of a brave combination of the materials NewspaperWood, wool felt and carbon.

NewspaperWood had been applied on the dashboard, the w-shaped element around the two seatings and the door panels. The combination with wool felt results, especially for the car industry, in a rather special interior. Besides a special use of materials the design contains innovative elements like the fuel gauge constructed from blown glass and copper exterior panels on the bodywork.

This car could be an Aventador killer or at least a dangerous competitor for Lamborghini.

Could it be also the new DLC Peugeot Vision Gran turismo? No, I don't think so either.

THE OTHER PEUGEOTS ARE HERE

Well, it is definitely the car shown under Peugeot's VGT dealership, but so far, the concept sketches have been quite misleading, I.e. The VW VGTi and BMW VGT...

I don't believe the Peugeot Onyx is the Peugeot VGT. While the front of the onyx looks quite promising compared to the picture of the Peugeot VGT. The rear lights look completely different. The VGT car has a spoiler. While there are some pictures on the internet with the Onyx having a spoiler or in other words, a wing. The possibility of the Peugeot VGT being a original VGT and not a Onyx is quite decent.

We'll just have to wait and see. While I do notice this thread is from back in July, I had to get the truth out and revive this thread.

In matter of fact, our chances of the Peugeot Onyx being the Peugeot VGT have been increased as this car has appeared in the Goodwood Festival of Speed which the track as we all know it is in GT6 and we've seen some VGT concept cars appear in their real life counter parts in that festival. Here's photo evidence.

Ooh-la-la, le sexy!! :D

Okay so that was bad. Sorry. Won't do it again. But this car is really good looking. Strange, @StarLight, you usually provide specs but this one's doesn't seem to be anywhere in the OP. What happened?

You are absolutely right, shall search for the spec and posted here later.
👍

The specs:

Under the carbon-fiber hood on the Onyx lays a beast, in the form of a 3.7-liter FAP HDi V-8 engine with hybrid technology. The V-8 engine itself is a monster, pumping out an insane 600 horsepower and transferring the power to the rear wheels via a 6-speed sequential gearbox. On the roof is a set of aluminum switches and the “Start/Stop” switch for ignition of this beast.

The Hybrid4 system in the Peugeot Onyx Hybrid uses regenerative braking to keep its batteries all charged up and tosses into the ring an extra 80 horsepower when it’s charged and ready to go. This brings the Onyx’s peak ponies to 680 horsepower, bringing it dangerously close to the 2012 Aventador ’s peak power.

The Onyx’s gasoline engine puts out 1160 Nm (855 pound-feet) of torque and the electric motor puts out 280 Nm (206 pound feet) of torque for a combined 1,061 pound feet of peak torque. This would likely propel the Onyx to 60 mph in a TopSpeed-estimated 2.2 seconds – well faster than the Mighty Aventador.

They really haven't. A 2, nearly 3 year old concept is not going to be a VGT. There nothing to suggest any manufacturer would do something like that.

This is terrible reasoning. It showed up because it's a concept. Goodwood is a motor show, after all. And this wasn't 2014, as far as I can tell, so it was entered by Peugeot and Peugeot alone before the VGT project even existed.

At least they took almost the same headlights as the ONYX for the VGT car.
It look pretty good to me like the ONYX concept actually ... :embarrassed:
