I will make it simple, My AT&T contract ends in april, so I am getting a new phone, a smartphone, the iphone is ruled out since I already own an ipod touch, I was looking at windows phones because there likeness to windows 8 which is my new regular use os for my laptop, and I know there are plenty of android phones but they are a little to slow for me seeing what apple can do, so help me: WINDOWS PHONE OR ANDROID?

i personaly would go for android .. but probably just because im more comfertable with them, i repair alot of them..i can only think of 1 windows phone i do, and i always have to search a lil to find what i need.

but tbh, i havent liked the idea of windows 8 eather, so i think its ganna be with what you like the most.

go out and try a few of each? :P

I am pretty experienced with android devices, I am sub superuser for android, as for WP7 im not to shure, I really need to try it out more, thanks robert1

for what ive noticed, doing stuff on windows normaly takes longer...most of the time have to go few more menus then you do on android (unless im missing something on them haha)

haha im looking into the pros and cons for WP7, it looks fast and sleek but is lacking many standard features like multitasking and also it lacks in speed as you mentioned, but I don't like the sloppiness of the android os over my ipod touch running iOS 5.0.1, WP7 looks so much sleeker and easier to open the phone and messaging, but that's just me

dont have much (well any real) experiance with apple so dont really no what im missing on that one. but some android phones like the samsung galaxy (I and II) (or i9000 / i9100) ive never had any "slippiness" issues with .. maybe even the galaxy ace (s5830) if you want something a lil smaller but i dont like that 1 as much.
the Nokia N8 seams ok but can be a lil harder to learn to use and has a built in battery which can be annoying

yeh thats true, i guess the hardest part is learning something new...but can sometimes turn out to be better when you get used to it.

weridly im liking the PSV's menu over the old PSP / PS3 XMB thaught ild hate it :P

What about the Samsung focus flash, it has 4g and its pretty cheap but it is WP7, look at the specs for it tell me what you think.

hmm thinking about it..with android, ive noticed people that have things like twitter, facebook, battery moniters (yeh some people leave way too much on :P) and god knows what else running in the back ground .. but not being used...they become next to unusable, windows may be better at dealing with that one...not sure

Very good point, because windows phone has no multitasking it always has full computing power available to use, when you leave 10, 15, even 20 apps running in the background your device becomes so slow a rock could beat it in a speed test :sly:

ooo i rember having a play around with that phone a few months back..had a different name then, but yeh i rember it had one of the best looking screens ive seen (might be able to have a lil look see if there is many common problems poping up with it in work monday :P)

hmm looked at a review on cnet from ages ago...maybe not the 1 im thinking of lol
but same type of screen, and the processor is slightly higher then most (1.4 instead of the ave of about 1.0)

Windows Phone 7.5 Mango intoduced multitasking. Oh and hopefully more recent handsets have better luck with WiPh7 because my experience with that OS was not a good one to say the least.

Deferentially go with Android. Mate of mine has a Samsung phone with a questionable version of the latest Android, and I've gotta say, was staggered.

Of course, all devices like this are just a steal of Apple and their iOS software, but they do a very good re-production. I would have suggested the iPhone but you said it was out of the question, so next best thing is Android.
