I don't think they are different conditions in the day I suspect that it's the angle of the track round the corner of the curved straight... if you look at the building on the right it is the same one.

C.

But the cloud patterns are differentin the bottom 2 and the top one well is almost overcast/misty.

The top pic is most representative of what was seen in the Prologue hack.
No Blue sky there.

The differences are negligible and possibly simply an illusion to do with the angle, or it could even be a different skybox from different builds, who knows.

GT-ONE Lover: Got Any Gran Turismo 4 Questions?

cobra: I read on the Ferrari website Jean Todt's taken out a restraining order against you.

Nice one eagle lol. The sun in each pic is different. The first looks like the afternoon, the second looks like morning and the last one looks like sunset but if so, should the sun be at different positions? I believe PD changed the setting of the hk track 3 times.

Cobra, sir... Hong Kong is an interesting setting. The skies are more like sunset, but more like evening, then maybe even more like sunrise (who the hell has a professional race at 7 AM in the morning except for endurances?) So, I can't tell you about that.

But after seeing that beatufiul New York picture with the Viper GTS-R, I'm kind of wanting to see night racing in one of my favorite American cities, which is, New York City. The city so nice, they named it twice.

Those are amazing! I don't think I've ever been as excited about the release of something, as I am about this game. They seem to have gone all out with this one. 👍

...would be great if u could photograph ur car when it is in the pit!!!
or better: imagine u could just open the doors, the engine hood (and the boot or even the roof [if u have a cabrio or cabrio-coupe]if there are some)!!!!!!
u can make that in NFS-PORSCHE...remember? opening the doors of the PORSCHE GT1 LM´98!!!!

:yuck:

GT-One Lover, are you lazy there behind the keyboard?

Please, let the grammar of your posts be undiscussed

The sun doesn't rise and set in the same place, it rises in the east and sets in the west. In thoes pics the sun is in the same spot in every pic so they are all roughly the same time of day.

I know that live, did you read what I said? I questioned why the sun wasn't in different places but I seriously believe pd changed the setting of HK 3 times. But cloud cover is different and the sun in each pic doesnt look the same.

Out of curiousity... How do you change the setting of a real city?

I just reckon they're all the same time and just a different angle of the camera... look closer at the buidling on the right and you will understand.

I know what you said, I know you said one looks like afternoon, morning and sunset. The only difference is the clouds. In one pic the sun is behind a cloud which makes it look quite different.

What is the significance of the building?

And how does that explain that the first pic and videos feature a overcast/misty setting and the bottom 2 pics feature virtually clear skies with different cloud formations?

As the three shots progress the building in the right is a constant view point and reference...

The first shot isn't misty... you just can't see the sun properly so it's a little darker...

Then as you pop round the corner you see the sun and the morning sky... and the last shot is at a different angle and further out and the sun is obscured by a cloud... the same cloud as the one in the second shot...

C.

PS Also the boats stay still wouldn't they be moving around during the day?

I see.

I wasnt suggesting time of day was changed, only that the cloud covering is different, although im not sure if Pd were going to model different times of day that they would go to all the effort of modeling movement of all the other elements in the scene like moving the boats.
If you watch the videos of Hong Kong Hacked out of Prologue. the setting is definately, overcast/misty there is no hint of blue sky, although I must try and find the video that the last pic came from and see if that can help shed some light on the situation :)

I pretty much agree with Cobra in that i think they have just re done the lighting/sky setting a few times through developement, none the less those shots are still interesting and pose more questions than they answer.

You know what would be really cool, if there was a mini printer for the Playstation 2, that you could hook up in the USB port in the PS2, and print your picture's directly. But the photos would be regular 35mm sized, and high quality on kodak film paper. I can only dream.

They actually had that exact setup at E3. Printed out a couple pics :) They were just using little HP photo printers, nothing fancy. The drivers were custom modified, though, and this may have been changed elsewhere, but as far as I know there haven't been any official announcements if GT4 will ship with necessary drivers (or have them available online.)

They said they'd include drivers to cater for a reasonable range of printers, so buy your own printer and do exactly what you suggested sUn.

How do you change the setting of a city? Change the texture file being used for the backdrop, rebuild geometry and lighting, voila.

More what I meant was how do you change it's setting as in Geometry... you couldn't change a real city to have it's sunrise on one place to having it's sunset in the same place...

That would just be breaking the realism by inverting the city!!

I also noticed that in most Nurburgring images the sky is very overcast but at the end of the GT4 Prologue PAL movie you will notice the sky is blue and cloudy. I'll see if I can get a capture.

Damn fine spot that is!!

Could this perhaps point to interactive weather?

Or does it just mean that PD hadn't finished the sky when they released the Prologue vid?

Is the Prologue vid the same in PAL as it is in the Asian version? Arwin?

C.

You can also notice on the ending movie with Honk-Kong some shots show the cars with lights on and some others with lights off. Unfortunately there aren't any decent shots to conclusively say the sky is different but it could explain why the hacked Hong Kong track had the car lights off.

I think the hacked one had them off because it thought that it would be New York... which takes place during the day... without lights?!

I’d agree because of New York and if you look at the Las Vegas video the cars don’t have lights on either.

Bit off topic, but how do you get screen captures of vids? My comp wont do it.
