So was I, I was in fact dissapointed with franz' entry. I voted for Moglet because the colours are nice and everything looks in place. The reason I didn't vote for franz is because... well, what happened franz? Not to be disrespectful but this is amongst the worst I've seen from you. The colours are way overboard, bringing out GT4's flaws; the crappy rims, the reflection with too little polygons on the road, and all the messy textures on the car...

oh yeah, Franz's is amazingly messy and I noticed it at first glance (no disrespect of course) but it's not just how the image is prepared, it's how the image hits you - how it makes you feel. In this case, the composition far outweighs the inperfections. I chose Franz.

So was I, I was in fact dissapointed with franz' entry. I voted for Moglet because the colours are nice and everything looks in place. The reason I didn't vote for franz is because... well, what happened franz? Not to be disrespectful but this is amongst the worst I've seen from you. Funnily enough, I had several shots lined up that I avoided for this very reason. The jaggies and bad textures are noticable even in the preview. My entry was a very basic image, I sort of knew it was crap when I sent it but having over 300 guests in work all week and needing money put a stop to my time on GT4 anyway.

That said, you might as well close this early and get on with the 2.0 version because franz has won by a mile.

The bad texture comes from over contrast setting. I was targeting an almost whiteout background to show the clean lines of the car. However the original background isn't white enough even I use +1 EV setting, which is why I have to overboard the contrast setting. If I use a colourful car, then the texture will be even more fooked up. If this is 2.0 rules, those bad textures obviously won't be forgiven by any chance

Maybe I should have used a black Caterham, which can be very hardcore. Btw, I picked Caterham because its roll cage matches those rods on the ceiling of Fish Market, kinda create a harmony or some sort. Thanks to those who have voted my shot.

I'm sorry guys, but I'm just not feeling the hatred for Franz's shot. some of you don't even provide a reason for disliking it (not even something like "I just don't quite get it", or "Moglets is better.") it's just "Franz, your entry sucks". Skyline, that was just plain rude. I've seen some not so great shots from your end too, and I don't think anyone has ever openly said that your shot didn't deserve to be in a competition.

Honestly guys, if we jumped on a newbie like this, everyone would be up in arms. but for some reason, since Franz did it, we can all jump on him and say it wasn't a good shot when it really is? Come on.

I infact feel the exact opposite.

The jagged reflection gives the impression of ripples to me, as if he just drove up, parked, and whipped out the ole camera. it also reinforces the uneven texture of the ground.
The wheels aren't blingin because they are functional. black rims don't show brake dust as much, and those look ALOT like track day rims. they fit.
the colour blotching is unavoidable with this style of shot. i can only really notice it along the bottom edge of the hood, if i actually look for it.
The shot is fantastic, and absolutely deserves my vote.

I completely agree with that. I know I'm a n00b, but I think that some of what was said was pretty rude. To just say that someone's entry sucks...is pretty questionable. They had enough confidence in their image to submit it - and then for someone to just say it's awful is unnecessarily harsh.

I haven't heard anyone say things like this before. I suppose it's because it is a final round of a tournament. Everyone has high expectations, and feel that...because it is a tournament of this magnitude that everyone has to provide their utmost criticism.

I know these are two "titans", but they are both human. I think they deserve to be treated with more respect that what was demonstrated.

Anyway, I gave a reason why Franz's may not win - because its messy and jagged - but Franz can't help it because it's PMC - so I vote on compostition rather than the finishing touches and Franz takes it.

Unfortunately for me, work came first. I worked lots of hours during the time this was open and so I ended up with a really mediocre image that I'm not happy with in the slightest.

But real life wins over GT4 any day!
