[edit - in pmc, i think brock has it. his shot seems like a 1.5 shot while nickys is over contrasted and could be framed slightly better imo. in 2.0, the uniqueness of the shot plus the clean up should see it through to the win imo.]

Auwwwww! This was like two train crash.

My first vote went to brock. He is not a noob, he know how to win this. His entry could seem simple as usually, but it has that 2% of final talent that make it overstanding. The Nicky's entry is good, not so much as some previous works btw. As I always say, phototravel locations need a ton of innovation.

The 2.0 is crazy. Both are excellent and deserve de win. The SLR is so sweet, amazing tone and light details. I'd love to see some focal distortion to be more real and kill the die-cast model look, but it'll be excessive good to our eyes .

And you, Franz, you're crazy. How the hell do you enter a ungly car, with a ugly color in a useless location? 10 points of difficulty. It has a few advanced techniques, the same of Moglet, but in that entry are critical. Many of us probably had killed the midtones with burn tool rather work all of them.

I'm going to be really blunt here; I think franz could have done much better. The car is hideous and the colour doesn't suit the location a single bit IMO. The blur effect on the lights is awesome and the cleanup is fairly well done too but the car really ruins it for me. Imagine how awesome a sleek black car would look in that location with those effects!

I voted for Nicky in the PMC round as I still have no idea how he gets PMC shots to look so smooth and undistorted 👍

I'm going do do my write-up now. Kinda late, but better late than never.

PMC Poll:
Voted for Brock's shot.
Loved the composition and the great mood it has, focusing all the attention on the lonely car facing straight to the viewer, but like it's in slo-mo.
Nicky's shot threw me off for a few reasons: Although it's a very good shot overall it is over-contrasted (probably to try to hide the ugly textures of the building on the right) which made most of the details on the car disappear, the car's too centered on the shot (left/right), and she used this same location quite a lot, which broke the originality of the shot. Still, she fully deserved to be on this final, as she is clearly one of the best around when it comes to PMC shots.

2.0 Poll:
My vote went to franz on this one.
But it was a really tough choice, I looked back and forth on both shots for at least 15 minutes before making my decision. And even then, I was still very divided, should've voted for both to be honest. I'm actually almost shocked on how the vote difference between the shots is so big...
Mog's SLR amazes for the sheer size at first view, it's a lot bigger than standard GT4 shots. I took a good look at all the details in full size before resizing it a bit on photoshop to have a non-distorted full view of the image. Work on the car is great (except I find the car's lines farther from the viewer a bit thick), awesome composition and strong blur, great tones. Headlights could have been reworked some more to be more natural, they still look (the inside) a bit polygonal. But that's nitpicking, I wouldn't do any better.
franz's shot:
I have to agree with Mog as far as car colour goes - a black car would've made this the mother of all Brooklyn shots.
But still it's extremely well executed technically. The background looks amazing with that effect, with a really smooth transition to the foreground (although the front tyre looks too sharp when viewed against the background). The cleanup is flawless, expcept on the rear panels, in which the bad textures show visibly. The rear window, side windows, the rear light, all looks gorgeous. The lines are extremely well worked on, and the front rim looks too blurred/softened, specially compared to the mentioned sharpness of the tyre.

All in all, congratulations everyone! I wish I could've been on the final too...

Man, I had to go with franz though, the car is absolutely astonishing, I can't spot a single flaw, though the car colour is less interesting...

And Bram, we all know that you are easily better than me at GT4 photos in general.

All the things that people spoke it was a bit…meh…in Franz shot, was the things I like the most. The car itself and the colour. It goes so well in the shot, it looks so good. I think a black car could not result in the same way, because the rest of the scenery is a bit dark (night) and a black car couldn’t make a person focus tottaly on the car, and yes in the taillight (the only thing I don’t like in the shot) and that circle formed light on the scenery.
I think it is interesting the choice of the car, and a bit of a risk, that I appreciate, that is transforming a ugly car in a gorgeous car, and for me, Franz made it. The rims are something that grab my attention also. I love that soft light white in the rims, grabbing more attention to the shot, and that transition between the sharpen wheel vs. the blurred scenery with the circle formed glowing lights it’s just awesome

Moglet shot is also very good, very good cleaning, and the extra blurred scenery, making the car grab more focus, is sensational, but it is a shot that tires for some time thought.

In the PMC side, I love Nicky’s shot. The composition of it, the colours, are sensational.
Brock’s shot is good but is a little boring, in the fact that it mainly just show a white car, coming out of nowhere, with a Dark scenery (the mystery), but it stays right there and it doesn’t transmit much.

Big thanks to NTX for hosting the tournament.👍 Thanks for hitting me up with the invitation. I wouldn't have participated if you hadn't sent it to me. I had a good time and made it to the semifinals, so it was well worth the effort. I would be glad to also take part in the next one.

Funny story about this tournament that I only shared with NTX, My GT4 game save went corrupt on me two days before the tournament started. I had to bust out the old GT3 game save with the 100 gr. just to buy a car that I could use in the photos. Who knew that the photos I submitted contained the one and only car I owned.
