HI guys.
Today my relations stupid cat knocked a hole cup full of tea off the top shelf and onto my G25, and what makes it worse was the top cover was off due to the G25 over heating.
The tea went all over the G25's internals so I don't have any pics of me stripping the G25 down as I had to work fast as to strip it down with it having a drink of tea and all lol.
But I do have pics of me building it back up so I figure I will just post them in reverse.
This is not a guide or anything its just so people who have these wheels can see exactly what is inside them.
Follow these steps at your own risk, I will not be held accountable for any damage to you or your G25.
I already had my top cover off.
STEP 1
Remove the wheel.
The wheel is held on with 6 allen screws so remove these and the wheel will come off but be careful when you take it off as there are wires behind it for the steering wheel buttons and they don't reach too far.
Now there is 2 ways you can remove the wiring for the wheel buttons.
You can either use a very small screwdriver and unscrew the 2 screws at the rear of the wheel button which will enable you to take of the buttons from the wheel.
Or you can balance the wheel against the G25 and remove the wiring plugs from the chip board behind the wheel.
I go for the 1st method of unscrewing the wheel buttons from the wheel.
This is what you will see when you remove the wheel.
STEP 2
Removing the circuit board.
To remove the circuit board from behind the wheel unscrew the black screw in the middle of the circuit board.
The circuit board will now pull away from the wheel hub, but do not pull it too far as there is a wire behind that circuit board.
This what you will see when you remove the circuit board.
Remove the wiring plug and put the board in a safe place.
STEP 3
remove the wheel hub and paddle shifters.
To remove the wheel hub and the shifter paddles unscrew the screws that are in the metal plate that you see in the pic.
The Hub will now pull away from the wheel, feed the wiring plug through the hole in the hub and place the hub in a safe place.
STEP 4
Removing wiring.
Now turn you G25 around and now its time to take out the main circuit board wiring.
Be careful when removing the plugs as the wires are very thing and wont take much to snap so DO NOT pull on the wires to free them make sure you grip the plug.
My g25 has been stripped a few times now so my plugs are loose and come out easy but they could be more suborn on G25's that have not been stripped before.
In this case I found a pair of needle nose pliers to be perfect for removing plugs.
Then unscrew the 4 screws in each corner and the circuit board will pull away.
STEP 5
Take out the metal plate the supports the G25 motors.
There are 2 black screws at the top and 2 silver screws at the bottom, unscrew them and the plate will pull free.
STEP 6
Removing the cogs and motors.
To remove the rest of the wheel from the base plate you have to flip it over and remove the 4 screw's underneath it.
Make sure you have the rest of the hub supported as when those screws are taken out the hub will drop.
once you have the hub of you will be left with this.
Now time to take out the motors.
The motors are screwed onto the metal plate from the inside so remove the 6 silver screws from around the metal plate.
Once removed pull the matal plate from the plastic hub.
Now unscrew the 2 silver screws on the inside of the plate to remove the motors.
If you need to take off the bearing for any reason there is a c-clip holding it in place.
The Gear shaft will just pull out.
It would probably be a good idea to give the slider a re grease.
Now it would be better to use a thin grease but I used automotive grease.
If there is enough interest I may do a detailed guide on stripping the G25.
I could also do one for stripping the G25 pedals and cleaning the pots.
And maybe one for the shifter too.
Hope this helps.
