:sly: BONJOUR! ALLO! SALUT!....... Ah, **** this,....

Recently I've been thinking of making a cartoon. Actually, I've been thinking about doing that for last couple of years. See, I, like any self-respecting person with a sense of humor, like cartoons. I love the damn things actually. From the likes of Looney Tunes to Liquid Television and Ren and Stimpy, cartoons have always been a great passion of mine. Now nearing 18, and potentially getting the first job I've ever had (yeah, I'm late. I know), not to mention getting my priorities straight (get/stay in shape, schoolwork, etc.), I'd love the finally pursue a passion of mines, and with a little help, I think I can make it happen. But it's not gonna be an easy ride, some of which may be of my own doing.

First of all, I don't even a slight idea on how the get it on t.v. I mean, I would put it somewhere else, like the 'net or an animation festival, but putting it on t.v would garauntee a large audience. However, the kind of cartoon that i have in mind might not fit in with all the Yu-Gi-Oh, Spongebob Squarepants **** on t.v today, or even with the liks of The Simpsons or South Park, either. My show would probably fit in better with the likes of R & S, LTV, or any number of other early/mid-90s' toons (Aeon Flux, The Maxx, etc.,etc.). So, yeah, politically correct and obsessed with all things pop culture it's not. But sadly, that's pretty much the trend these days. And even if it were to get up there, I fear that the censors would try and tame the hell out of the show. But hey, if I can get the censors off my ass by taking a cut in the paycheck, I'll glady accept. Anything for the sake of my art.

So with all that said, I just wanna know what you guys think of all this, and, if you can, give me some feedback as to how the get my show out there. And trust me, for the real cartoon fans (those that believe in the philosiphy that cartoons should be innovative ad unique, and actually smart in the humor and originality, unlike all the Krypto, SpongeBob and, well pretty much every Nicktoon that was still getting new episodes since the cancellation of Invader Zim), the show, should I actually make it all happen, will be a HUGE treat!!! :sly:

you and a million other people. myself included. you need to go to school and get internships and everything to make friends and get connections. you don't just come out of nowhere with a tv show. there is also a lot more to consider than just the censors and taking a cut in pay. you need that money....it's not like the network is giving you loads and loads of excess funds...especially when taking a gamble with an unknown show created by an unknown person.

Make a cartoon, and distribute it on the internet for free. Yes, you'll have to invest some money in a hosting firm that will allow lots of downstream bandwith, but it's the only other way to get noticed.

Get people involved, but don't spam people with your creation. Leave a link in your signature, or find sites/boards that deal with promotion and help on animated stuff.

You'll obviously have to make a lot of connections to get on the airwaves or get in the press. You'll have to do a ton of networking; don't aske me how it's done because it usually happens by luck and chance.

Don't give up. Lots of people want to be cartoonists and artists, or what-have-you; it might take 10+ years to get noticed. For every 1 that makes it, 100 more were rejected, and probably 10,000 more didn't even bother to show up or try hard enough.
